Xe Graphics driver 30.0.100.9805 has improved Doom Eternal, however some areas still stutter

I was happy to see that Xe Graphics driver 30.0.100.9805 fixed Persona 4 Golden, it works great now!

I tested it a fair bit with Doom Eternal and it's also improved, many of the stutters have been resolved.

That being said, there are certain areas in the game that cause long stutters of several seconds. The particle effect in the back of the Fortress of Doom is a great example (screen shot attached).

Even though more improvements are needed, I'm happy to see the driver engineers have been able to make progress. Outside of these long stutters the game runs very smoothly.

I look forward to future updates that hopefully can fix the remaining issues.

EDIT: This is on an i7-1165G7 with 16 GB RAM.

EDIT 2: Windows 10 version 21H1

Barfoot, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this matter, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

What is the model of the motherboard?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

Is this a new computer?

The problem with "The particle effect in the back of the Fortress of Doom", was it happening before with a different graphics driver version?

If not, by any chance, do you remember that graphics driver version?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes besides upgrading the graphics driver?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Any questions, please let me know.

Barfoot, Thank you very much for providing that information and the SSU report.

Based on the information showing in the SSU report, we can that currently, the graphics driver version installed on your computer is 30.0.100.9805, which is the latest Intel® graphics driver that we have available on our website.

Just to let you know, the Intel® graphics drivers are generic, meaning they might or might not work with your platform. We always recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform.

I looked in GPD's website and they actually have a new driver package and also a new BIOS version to download, please get in contact directly with them to make sure the latest BIOS version is currently installed on your device or to gather the instructions on how to do that, once you get the chance, please let us know the results:

Hello, thank you for the reply. I've verified that the BIOS is up-to-date on this unit.

I've also check the drivers package, the IGPU driver included in that bundle is the generic driver version 27.20.100.9316. It does not appear to be vendor customized in this situation.

Just to rule out a BIOS issue, I reset the BIOS settings to factory default as well. The issue remains.

Would it be useful to see a video of the issue in action? I can record one if so.

Thanks!

Hello Barfoot, You are very welcome, thank you very much for sharing those results.

When it comes to games, we also recommend to verify the system requirements of the game to make sure your computer complies with them.

We are sorry to hear the issue persists after testing both, Intel®'s graphics driver version 30.0.100.9805 and especially with the bundle's graphics driver version 27.20.100.9316 since that should be the proper driver for your platform.

"Would it be useful to see a video of the issue in action?". yes it will be very useful since we will do further research on this matter and to have a video of the issue will actually be really helpful.

Hello Barfoot, I just received an update on this matter.

We are glad to hear that the latest driver helped you to improve the game performance. We really appreciate the feedback you are providing and we are still working on Doom, to improve its performance with our new drivers. We understand that the issue is still present, and our recommendation is to keep checking our Intel® Download Center to use the latest drivers and be aware of new releases:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html

It is important to mention again that in this specific case, the system you are using is highly customized, and the best thing to do is to report this to the manufacturer of the computer too, to make sure that game requirements are met and that they develop new customized drivers based on our generic ones. They usually do minor changes to make devices work properly with their systems (even when they use the same identifier or name for the driver).
