intel-gpu-tools - register 0xC8254 not available

Hello,

I have Dell Inspiron 3593 with preinstalled Ubuntu. It has very low backlight PWM frequency, probably only 200 Hz (this problem occurs also in different Dell laptops), which is bad for my eyes, so I'm trying to change it. I read that it's possible by installing intel-gpu-tools and running a script which edits the value of 0xC8254 register. However, when I run "sudo intel-reg read 0xC8254", it causes segmentation failure. I've disabled secure boot in BIOS, but it doesn't help. I found out that when I run "sudo intel-reg read" with a different register number, which is described in text files in "registers" folder, it returns some value. Could you please tell me if there's some different register which I can edit to change PWM frequency?
