I installed the newest driver for intel hd 4400 which is 15.33.30.3958. But microsoft tells me that I have "newer version" of the driver which is 15.36.7.3960? why is that?

Hello mikenijai,

This is the latest driver for your graphics controller:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24348 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24348 Try it and let me know.

Medevila,

Try the driver above.

If you guys have problems during the installation try the steps mentioned here:

the 3958 is supposed to be for the "3rd Generation Core" platforms (formerly Ivy Bridge) - HD 4000, HD 2500 and corresponding Pentium 2xxx and Celeron 1xxx skus. It is not for HD 4400 (Haswell aka 4th gen core). Seems like a snafu in the skus selected when this driver was loaded in the download driver search/driver update utility.

All 4th gen core stuff is now supported off of the 15.36 driver branch - 15.36.7.3960 is the latest there, I believe

im struggling every time i have to download the new hd graphics driver and im sure, im not alone. 15.33 branch or 15.36 branch?

they both support my hd graphic chip. one has a higher versionnumber and the other supports the newer DirectX.

15.33.30.64.3958: 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 5000/4600/4400/4200 (DirectX 11.2)

15.36.7.64.3960: 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 5000/4600/4400/4200 (DirectX 11.1)

it seems it doesnt matter too much, they both work with my hd graphic chip. but still, its a pain in the ass (sorry) because you're never 100% sure.

as a programmer, i know redundancy is the worst ever. so why do you deploy such redundant installers? make one installer with all supported chips OR delete the redundant chip support in one of them. that would make my life so much easier.

You are right when saying that both drivers support your graphics controller; however, the latest driver for HD 4000 is 15.33.30.64.3958 and the latest for HD 4600 is 15.36.7.64.3960 which supports DirectX 11.2.

There is a mistake on the page when saying it supports up to 11.1 on Detailed description Chart if you open the driver release notes it has the correct information:

http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24348/eng/ReleaseNotes_GFX_15%2036%207%2064%203960.pdf http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24348/eng/ReleaseNotes_GFX_15%2036%207%2064%203960.pdf

I am going to send the request to have the incorrect information update it.
