question about non-DCH graphics drivers for Intel i7-8565U processor and Windows 10 LTSB

Hello!

Our company had received a bunch of HP ProBook 440 G6 laptops not long time ago, featuring Intel i7-8565U CPU (Intel® UHD Graphics 620).

We are using LTSB Windows 10 OS as a corporate standard, which is based on 1607 build. The only drivers available for this processor in download section are new “DCH-type”. And required OS build for them is higher, than the LTSB is (min 1709):

I was able to find “non-DCH type” drivers for that CPU on your website in in the Previously Released section. Is there possibility to use such drivers for this CPU with LTSB build of Windows 10?

The transaction from LTSB to LTSC (1809 build based) is planned, but not for the nearest feature. And LTSB is deployed via SCCM imaging functionality – it’s a great mess to change it all because of new processor model.

SSerd1 , Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support. Just to let you know, we recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them work with your specific platform. I looked in HP's web site and the Intel® graphics driver available is version 100.6287: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-probook-440-g6-notebook-pc/23200928 In reference to your question, yes, you can always install older Intel® drivers, but keep in mind that the Intel® graphics drivers are generic, meaning they might or might not work with your system. Since the processor works with Intel® UHD Graphics 620, in the next link you will find all the drivers available for that graphics controller: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/126789/Intel-UHD-Graphics-620 Additionally, we advise to install all the Windows* updates available for your system, you are using Windows* LTSB (Long-Term Servicing Branch), but, the updates done when using that version are security updates there are no driver updates, that is why we recommend to install the drivers provided by HP: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10/release-information Regards, Alberto R. Hello AlbertoR !

Sorry for the delay - I was working in another place for some time.

Yes, we were able to use that "old" driver for the LTSB branch of win10. Installation went flawlessly. Thank you for fast responce.

Hello Sergey,

We have the same problem with this Graphics card but on an i5-8265u in a Clevo laptop chassis. I am looking for a driver that works in Windows LTSB 2016 but haven't been able to find one that will install. All the ones mentioned above do not work/install. So, I would be much obliged if you could direct me to a working driver for the Intel UHD 620.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

David

Hello printerman!

I used the following link to download old, non DCH-driver, which supports UHD 620 graphics:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27199/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-47-?product=98909

But now the link is broken, and driver is removed from intel's website - shame on them!

I was able to found it in only place:

https://www.driverscloud.com/en/services/GetInformationDriver/71280-62246/intel-win64-1547024815exe

Choose LEFT link (download driver via cloudriver server).

Then, you need to unpack the driver with 7-zip, and install it through the Device Manager (update driver - i'll install - choose location - browse - select .INF file). It works in win10 2016 LTSB with i5-8265U flawlessly.

Hello Sergey,

Thank you for the link but I am afraid it will not work with the Clevo laptop. The reason is that the laptop's Graphics hardware id is not present in the inf file with this driver. However, I have found another driver which does work. It is version 24.20.100.6344 (available here http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=352&func=download&id=3698&chk=c569cf5293bd402a7d99a7db2dd193f1&no_html=1&lang=fr, it has been removed from the Intel website). The only problem I have with it, is it will not install directly in an automated imaging environment. The workaround is to force installation of this driver with dpinst.exe /F and after the imaging is complete let Windows search for a new videodriver manually. It will find the the driver and install it. Not an ideal situation but good enough until we change to Windows 10 LTSC 2019.

Thanks again for the herlp.

Regards,

David
