ARC conflicting hardware information - which is correct?

The information on the B580 box says:

AlHill_0-1743434123943.png

This says that 8th and 9th gen processors are acceptable and that a 300 serice chipset is acceptable.

However, Intel's own online document (Last Reviewed: 12/13/2024) says different:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091128/graphics/intel-arc-dedicated-graphics-family.html

This says that nothing less than a 10th gen processor and a 400 series chipset is supported.

So, who is correct - the box or your doc?

Hello AlHill,

Please refer to the article Intel® Arc™ Graphics – Desktop Quick Start Guide to optimize the performance of the B580 and enable ReBar.

To provide you with a more detailed answer regarding this concern, I will need to coordinate this internally.

Best regards,

That does not answer my simple question - which is correct, the box or the doc?

Hello AlHill,

Thank you for your response, and I sincerely apologize if my previous reply did not directly answer your question.

Based on the official article, 10th Gen and newer processors are best suited for the B580, with ReBar enabled, which serves as our verified source.

To further investigate your concern, could you please provide the link where you obtained the screenshot so we can double-check and confirm the information? Additionally, please share a full shot of the entire box displaying the information for verification purposes.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

All I wanted to hear was that the article is the correct source of requirements.

Thanks,

Hi @AlHill

I can confirm the correct system requirements (i.e. 10th Gen Intel Core processors) are as detailed on our Quick Start Guide

Below is a picture of the box packaging for the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition and it reads as follows:

I'm not sure where this box information is coming from... can you share more details about it? A link or where did you get it.

Best Regards.

Yeah that particular piece of information from the listing is wrong and I'm confident it did not originate from Intel.

I already contacted newegg through their site's feedback option to get this corrected.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Best Regards,

Ronald M.

Well, that is not the only incorrect information.   The following links are clearly Intel's fault:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Conflicting-driver-information/m-p/1680271#M140692

It is disturbing that there is so much bad information on Intel's product pages.

Well, you can find the same information here:

https://www.amazon.com/WEELIAO-GUNNIR-B580-Index-PCI-Express/dp/B0DPMFJQ9V?tag=georiot-us-default-20&ascsubtag=tomshardware-us-8543610295969200227-20&geniuslink=true

Look under:

I suspect the information did come from Intel, and no one did any proof-reaeding before publishing.
