Asus Armoury crate not detecting intel Arc A750 GPU temperature

Hello,

I recently upgraded my PC with new motherboard - Asus TUF B650-E Wi-Fi, which comes with Asus Armoury Crate for Fan control.

I also have Sparkle Intel Arc A750 ORC OC GPU which tends to overheat under high load(stock wattage - 180W).
By overheat I mean that in games the GPU easily reaches 88-90 degrees and the Vram can sometimes reach 100+ and shut-down.

My case is with fairly good airflow - Cougar 330g Pro, it's nothing fancy, but it does the job compared to my old one, which made the ARC GPU turn off itself or freeze.
(I don't know if this is normal, but it was always like that, I wrote to Sparkle twice, they didn't bothered to answer...)

Until I've changed the motherboard I was fairly happy because I had 3 massive front fans (3x140mm) which blew at the GPU. It was stuck at about 80-84 degrees at most.
However, when I've changed the motherboard I also got Ryzen 7700 and found a really good deal on AIO cooler, which did not fit on the top side of the case.
This meant that I had to put it at the front and remove the three large fans.

Since then my GPU again started reaching 90 degrees when in my room is about 25C.

The AIO has 2x140mm fans which I want to bind-control to the temperature of the GPU and make them blow hard whenever the GPU starts getting hot. However, Armoury crate does not detect the Intel GPU temps, only the iGPU in the ryzen CPU.

I would really appreciate if Intel can talk to Asus or implement whichever API the Armoury crate is using to detect the temps in the AMD/ NVidia gpu's, so proper fan control could appear.

Thank you!

Hi @vyrgozunqk

Intel developed its own software named Intel Graphics Software - included in the driver package - which you can use to monitor the GPU temperature, fan speed, etc. Using this software you can set a custom fan curve relative to the GPU temperature that may help in overheating scenarios.

Keep in mind your GPU should not reach 90 C for extended periods of time at stock settings, so it does look you are facing an overheating situation here. Check this link for recommendations to address the problem, however if the issue persists you may need to contact Sparkle support for potential RMA advice.

As for getting Armoury Crate to read the GPU temperature: please report this directly to Asus since they are the software developer and only they can implement changes in its code.

Hi Ronald,

The Intel software allows me to control the Fan curve of the GPU only, which unfortunately is not enough to cool down the GPU, when the other system fans are running on low speeds. This is why I was asking if its possible to be integrated into other solutions that can bind system fan curves to the GPU temperature.
Even the open source FanControl tool until recently did not supported Intel.

I'll try contacting Sparkle, again.

I thought my temperatures are that high because I have the OC version that is dual fan and it just had really bad thermal solution design.

Each GPU vendor validates and tests their card to work as designed by Intel so even if it is their OC version it should not be overheating out-of-the box.

Please check with them for additional troubleshooting advice or possibly RMA.

Best Regards.

Thank you for the information!

What temperatures are considered "normal" for this GPU under full load?

There is no official "normal" temperature, as long as the GPU stays under 90 C it is considered to be running under specifications.
