Driver restart during WoW game, possible driver conflict?

While playing WoW i get blank screen and I had to press hard reset, no memory dump. Recent software I added was Steeleries mouse Rival 3 Gen 2. This was at first causing conflicts, I contacted Steelseries support, but no reply. Uninstalled some conflicting components, for a while no BSOD (first there were bsods with memory conflict). But now its just blank screen and I don't know what to do as next step.

@Jcel   You do know that your processor does not meet the requirements for ARC, correct?

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091128/graphics/intel-arc-dedicated-graphics-family.html

Nothing less than a 10th gen processor is supported.  And, of course, your chipset is not supported.

Just saying....

Hi Jacek,

Thank you for contacting Intel Customer Support regarding the blank screen issues you're experiencing while playing World of Warcraft. I understand how frustrating it must be to have your system freeze during gameplay, especially when you're unable to determine the exact cause due to the lack of memory dumps.

The correlation you've identified between installing the SteelSeries Rival 3 Gen 2 mouse software and the onset of these issues is valuable information for our troubleshooting process.

To better assist you in resolving this driver conflict and blank screen issue, I need to gather some additional information:

System History:

  1. Was World of Warcraft working properly before installing the SteelSeries mouse software? If so, for how long had it been working without issues?
  2. When did the blank screen issues first start occurring? Was it immediately after the mouse software installation or after a specific event?
  3. Do you experience blank screens in other games or applications, or is this specific to World of Warcraft?

Error Information:

  1. Error Codes: Even though there are no memory dumps, do you see any error messages before the blank screen occurs?
  2. Event Viewer: Have you checked Windows Event Viewer for any critical errors around the time of the crashes?

For comprehensive troubleshooting, could you please provide an Intel System Support Utility (SSU) report? You can download it from: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005511/processors.html

If you're not comfortable generating an SSU report, please provide:

  • CPU Model and Generation
  • Graphics Card Model (Intel integrated or discrete)
  • System Type: Desktop or laptop, and manufacturer/model if pre-built
  • Operating System Version

Have you tried updating to the latest Intel graphics drivers? I recommend:

  1. Download Latest Intel Graphics Driver: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html
  2. Clean Installation using DDU: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Clean Installation Process:

  • Boot into Safe Mode
  • Run DDU to remove current graphics drivers
  • Restart in normal mode
  • Install the latest Intel graphics driver

Given the complexity of potential driver conflicts between your Intel graphics, SteelSeries software, and World of Warcraft, I'd like to offer you a phone consultation. This would allow us to work through diagnostic steps in real-time and potentially identify the conflicting components more efficiently.

Hi Dean,

Thank you for prompt answer.
I had no problems before, I have this card for like 6 months and I am very happy.
I will try clean driver reinstall, then maybe system install. My hardware is quite old, here is the info:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4Ghz

GPU: Intel Arc A770 16GB
MB: Asus Z170-P (no Rebar in bios)
OS: Windows 10

I try to do following steps and contact you back.

Regards,

Jacek C.

Hi Jacek,

Thank you for providing your system specifications. I notice that AlHill has marked his response as the solution regarding the compatibility concern with your system.

@AlHill is correct that your Intel Core i7-6700K (6th generation) processor is below Intel's official minimum requirement of 10th generation processors for Intel Arc A770 graphics cards.

I would like to know if you don't have any other concern with your inquiry. Let me know if you have other questions.

I have marked my response as a solution (will save and upgrade hardware in the future). As for compatibility, its probably wise to ask on Blizzard forums (they may say the same) but I have noticed that my system crashes in one specific place, therefore I have asked them too.
