When installing the new intel graphics card, I get the following error message:
The application is in an unauthorized location. Move it to a folder that is not occupied by the system.

I tried the previous installer as well and I get this message for that as well.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello GeriDzsee,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

The issue is caused by a modified user temporary folder, change the folder back to the default or non-system folder to resolve the issue.

  1. Open Windows Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Click Advanced system settings.
  4. In the pop-up Windows Properties window, select Advanced.
  5. Click Environment Variables.
  6. Change TMP under User variables for USER to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp.
  7. Change TEMP under User variables for USER to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp.
  8. Click OK to save and close Environment Variables window.
  9. Click OK to save and closeWindows Properties window.

If the issue persists, please your system details by downloading the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software. When the download is complete, launch SSU.exe.

  1. Scan: Check the box Everything.
  2. Click Scan.
  3. Review: When finished scanning, click Next.
  4. Click Save (.txt) *Attach the log file as you reply.

Please also share where you downloaded the driver that you were trying to install.

I will wait for your reply.

Dear JeanetteC!

I tried the suggested settings but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem.
As soon as I have the opportunity, in the next message, I will attach the txt file about the details of the system.
As an addendum, I would also like to point out that a friend of mine also had the same problem. He has an intel arc580 card with windows 10 operating system.
I use windows 11 operating system with arc380 video card.
The last update it allowed to install was 07/24/2024. It was version 32.101.5768. Now it won't let you install the previous one either.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello GeriDzsee,

Currently, my colleague is away, as such let me assist you further on this. I have two resolutions that you can try on this, please follow these steps:

  1. Move the temporary folder used for the installation files outside any Windows System folders
  2. If for any reason, it’s not possible to move the temporary folder, a possible alternative is to use PnPUtil /add-driver command in a script to install the driver.
  • For integrated graphics: The target INF to be used is iigd_dch.inf.
  • For discrete graphics: The target INF to be used is iigd_dch_d.inf.

Let me know if this resolution help you resolve the issue. I am looking forward hearing back from you.

Best regards,

Hello JeanetteC,

I apologize for not responding, unfortunately I was too busy. I've tried the solutions you suggested, but so far it hasn't solved the problem. I haven't tried moving the folder yet, I haven't found the relevant folder yet.
I tried PnPUtil command line, but I don't know if I did it right and it didn't work, or if I used it wrong and it didn't work.

Thank you for your help so far!

Regards, GeriDzsee
