Elite Dangerous crash on B580 with *.6559 drivers

Game is crashing on Planetary generation at 50% at best, 0% at worst.

Tried different settings (through settings.xml files), best was Fullscreen with native resolution (crash at 50%), all other settings resulted in instant crashes at 0%.

SSU report file attached.

Edit: I also tried (nearly) every older driver available - with clean installs after purging the current installs - with the same result, at best.

Hello Jed,

the Problem resolved itself. I absolutely don't know how, i changed nothing but now the game loads and I am able to play.

My best guess is: it wasn't a GPU Problem at all but rather something from the Game/Account issue.

Best regards,

B43r

Hello B43r,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing crashing issues while playing Elite Dangerous and I understand that you'd like this to get resolved. For me to address this properly, please share the information below.

1. Was this working fine before? If yes, was there any recent changes to the system?

2. Is the issue isolated to this game?

3. Which digital game distribution platform are you using to play the game (Steam, Epic Games, etc)?

Additionally, when you say that it's crashing at 50% what does that mean? Are you referring to the loading percentage of the game while launching it?

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Hi,

1. The System is completely new, but i tried it on Linux before, where it crashes also instantly.

2. So far the issue seems isolated to the game, but i haven't tested a lot of other games (Diablo IV, Path of Exile 2, No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk2077)

3. I play the game through Steam, but it opens in it's own launcher so i guess this would also happen if i use (which i can't because i got the steam-version) the Frontier Launcher without Steam.

Yes, sorry for the confusion, i mean the 50% which is shown in the game in its own loading screen. So i don't know for sure if it really loads to exactly 50% or crashes somewhere else, as i don't know how the loading percentage is calculated from the game.

Greetings

Hello B43r,

Thank you for providing all this information. To further troubleshoot the issue, please follow these steps:

1. Ensure the game is updated to the latest version.

2. Adjust the in-game settings for optimal performance.

3. Attempt to run the game in Compatibility mode.

4. Consider using an older driver to help isolate the issue - Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*

If the problem persists, kindly inform me of any error messages that appear when the game crashes and if possible, please attach a screenshot of the error.

Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

Hi Jed,

thanks for the reply.

1. The Game is always on the latest version, otherwise it won't even launch (online game stuff)

2. I adjusted the games Settings from the XML files, as I'm not able to get to the ingame options, because it crashes beforehand.

2.1 Also i tried literally every possible combination of settings and the best outcome was the crash at 50%

3. Already tried, as far as it is possible (even tried to run it on Linux with different proton versions)

4. I tested every driver available on the download page. I always cleaned the drivers completely, the only thing i did not, was reinstalling windows every time.

There is no real Error Message, it just crashes and closes and gets me back into the launcher.

Best regards,

B43r

Hi Jed,

since the game, and steam, do not create a crashdump on it's own here is the memory dump of the program from the moment it crashes.
