Intel Graphics Software fails to realize an update has taken place until manual PC restart.

When installing a driver update through IGS, once the update finishes opening the IGS will show the the latest driver version but IGS will still report updates are available. Pressing the update button will pointlessly reinstall the latest driver again (and the issue will still persist).

You need to restart your PC and then IGS will finally realize the update has concluded.

Hi djmrFunnyMan,

Thank you for posting in the communities!

I appreciate you sharing your findings regarding the update message on Intel Graphics Software.

No worries, I will further check on this. For me to determine the most appropriate resolution, could you please provide the needed details below:

  • Does the issue only happen when installing driver version: 32.0.101.6732?
  • When the computer boots up, does the problem usually occur, or does it only occur once after updating to the most recent graphics driver?
  • Have you tried performing a clean installation of your GFX drivers?

Best regards,

Earl E.

Hello.
1. No. The issue has affected driver updates for quite some time, not only 32.0.101.6732
2. The issue only occurs once after updating to the most recent graphics driver. Rebooting the computer fixes it.
3. I have done a clean reinstallation of my drivers several times in the past and the issue persists.

Hello,

You are encountering an issue where the IGS (Intel Graphics Software) doesn't properly recognize the completion of a driver update until after a system restart. This is a common issue with driver management tools, where the system needs to fully reload hardware configurations after an update for the software to recognize the new driver version correctly.

Some drivers require a reboot to finalize their installation or fully register with the operating system. Even though the update appears to be completed, the system may still be holding onto the old driver state until the system restarts. IGS Database Syncing Issue: The IGS tool may not immediately sync its database to reflect the latest driver version until after the reboot. This means it might show that updates are still pending even though the latest version is installed.

Install the Update and Restart the PC, When you install the update through IGS, make sure you restart your system afterward. This step ensures that the driver is fully loaded into the operating system and the IGS software can detect the update correctly.

Check for Updates Again After Restart, Once the system has rebooted, check the IGS tool again. It should now recognize the updated driver version and not prompt you to reinstall the same version again.

Ensure IGS Is Updated, Occasionally, the IGS software itself may need an update to work properly with the latest drivers. Make sure IGS is running the latest version, as this could resolve some of the sync issues you’re encountering.

Manual Installation (if needed), If the issue persists after rebooting, you might want to try manually downloading and installing the latest driver from the Intel website, rather than using IGS. After that, perform a restart to ensure the system registers the driver change.

Possible Fix for Persistent Update Prompts, If restarting doesn’t resolve the issue, try Get I-PASS these additional troubleshooting steps:

Clear the IGS Cache, Sometimes, the update system in IGS might be confused by a cached version of the driver. Clearing the cache might resolve the persistent prompts.

To do this, go into the IGS settings and look for an option to clear the cache or reset the update database.
