Monitor Hz issue when playing Red Dead Redemption 2

Good morning, I want to clarify that it is an internal driver problem or something, I have a native 2K gaming monitor at 170Hz, Well it turns out that only one thing happens to me and that is that Red Dead Redemption 2 applies 48Hz and my monitor is 170Hz, No matter how much I force or try to apply or change other configurations the same thing happens to me, I don't know if it is internal to the Intel Arc drivers or a problem with the RDR2 game, Because Vulkan nothing happens to me, I put 170Hz 2K and without a problem, The problem is when it goes from Vulkan to DirectX 12, Well I want to inform you well, I don't know to what extent there is or something happens, I will send you the video, but my native resolution is 170Hz 2K, I have tried to deactivate Adaptive Sync and nothing remains the same, I activate it again as it was default and it remains the same 48Hz that does not want to go to 170Hz, I think I can't say 100% but I think it's an internal problem with the Intel Arc drivers or internal to the Red Dead Redemption 2 game itself, As I told you, my resolution is 2K native at 170Hz

1. Update to the latest drivers

2. Uninstall Clean drivers using Display Driver UninstallerSafe Mode

3. Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information about the issue you're experiencing with your 2K gaming monitor and Red Dead Redemption 2. I understand that the game is defaulting to a 48Hz refresh rate despite your monitor's capability of 170 Hz.

To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

  • Have you noticed similar refresh rate issues with other games or applications?
  • Was this working fine before?
  • What is the game platform you play Red Dead Redemption 2 on?
  • What is the specific manufacturer of your Intel Arc A770?
  • Did you make recent changes on your system?

To assist us in analyzing the details of your system and addressing the issue effectively, we kindly ask you to generate a System Support Utility (SSU) report. This report will provide us with comprehensive information about your system's configuration, helping us identify any potential incompatibilities or issues.

To generate the SSU report, please refer to the article: How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*.

I look forward to your response!

Good morning, well I'm going to explain the problem to you in as much detail as possible, and it only happens to me in RDR2, it doesn't happen in the other games.

First of all, I'm going to make things clear and precise. I've already done several tests and nothing. First of all, we know that you are working on improving DirectX 12 performance in RDR2. But here I'm going to tell you what's happening to me.

1. Have you noticed similar refresh rate issues with other games or apps? No

2. Did it work before? It's still the same, it only works at 48 Hz.

3. What gaming platform do you play Red Dead Redemption 2 on? Rockstar Games Launcher

4. What is the specific manufacturer of your Intel Arc A770? Intel Arc A770 LE Limited Edition

5. Have you made any recent changes to your system? No

The steps I did are the following, My monitor is 170Hz ok so I tried deactivating Adaptive Sync ok I deactivate it I put 170Hz in RDR2 and it applies 60Hz, I activate Sync I do the prism process 170Hz and it applies 48Hz, Adaptive Sync comes by default ok, and I don't want the monitor to go crazy with the configuration etc, Which is why it is the only game that happens to me, the only one that would be Red Dead Redemption 2, Because the other games do not happen to me, I tried changing the API to Vulkan and it works perfectly, but when it goes from Vulkan to DirectX 12 the 170Hz does not work, My resolution is 2560x1440, let's go 2K native at 170Hz, So I am going to pass the videos and so you can see the video is black because I have not entered the game, but then the game will come out, So I will explain the problem to you, And it is no longer a problem RDR2 developers if not it is already an internal problem with Intel arc drivers.

Hello addelucas123

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed explanation of the issue being encountered. I really appreciate the clarity you have provided - it definitely helps in better understanding of the issue being encountered. From what you've described, it's clear that the refresh rate issue with Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) when using DirectX 12 is isolated, considering other games are performing as expected.

With that being said, I will further investigate the refresh rate issue being encountered. I will get back to you once I have an appropriate resolution. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best Regards,
