Hello, I was playing Star Wars Battlefront 2, and I had experience multiple crashes in a single day. So, I decide to reach out. When I launch the, it says that I'm using the Outdated Drivers. When I was using the latest (32.0.101.6874 WHQL). I was using the Intel Graphics Command Center and confirming the mode was in plugged in at maximum performance by using the A530M GPU. The Driver Error message was in a screenshot please check.

While testing the game, for some reason the A530M is only using 60W. I did check the power cap in HWINFO 64 and it's 95W. So just to check, I did test the RTX 3050 6GB Mobile and it's way closer to its TGP (90W) the A530M was set to Performance Mode in Lenovo Vantage and Intel Graphics Command Center was set to Plugged in Maximum Performance and yet, it's getting 60W. The A530M was closer to 65W which is the Lower TGP. But I expect it would be closer to Full Powered A530M. More on 90W.

Hi @IcyFrost,

Your observation regarding the A530M using only 60W, despite being set to performance mode and having a power cap of 95W, may not be directly related to the "Outdated Driver Error" message on Intel® Graphics. However, outdated drivers can sometimes lead to suboptimal performance and power management issues, which might indirectly affect the power usage of the graphics card. While the "Outdated Driver Error" might not be the direct cause of the power discrepancy, updating the drivers and checking the factors could help resolve the issue and ensure optimal performance.

I previously sent an email directly to your inbox regarding the next steps for resolving the issue with your graphics driver. Kindly check your email at your earliest convenience.

Pending Actions:

Used the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an... and update to latest graphics driver version 32.0.101.6881 (WHQL Certified).

Looking forward to your response.

Hello Randy,

I apologized about that I didn't relate the issues about the Power consumption to the Driver Error Message, however, the A530M was using the latest drivers at that time of Testing with 32.0.101.6874 WHQL. And I did set the Intel Graphics Command Center to use Plugged in at Maximum Settings and Lenovo Vantage Software to Performance for clarifications. And as of right now, I'm now downloading the latest Drivers after DDU.

Hello Randy,

The Outdated Driver Message is still there after DDU and Updated. However, I may suspect it's the game that didn't detect the GPU since the game is from 2017 and Intel Arc is 2022. So, in this case, we'll just fix this issue for another time. In the meantime, we can try to fix the Power Usage of the A530M if possible. If Lenovo set the Power Limit to 65W, then the Watts should be at 60W consistently, however, when I check the Power Cap from HWINFO 64, it's 95W. Hence PL1. So, there is a chance that at 95W (or 90W for a realistic accuracy) there would be more performance. Not only that, the 60W sometimes happens to pass the 65W. So I suspect that the A530M was not Full powered yet.

However, I must admit the crashes I was experiencing was actually out of memory (8GB), I apologized that I should make sure the RAM has enough capacity to avoid confusion.

Hi @IcyFrost,

Thank you for the update. It appears that the visual glitch won't affect how your games run. Regarding the crashing issue, I agree that the RAM could be a concern. The game recommends having 16GB of RAM, but your system only has 8GB, which could be causing the crashes.

For the power usage issue, I strongly advise creating a separate thread so we can begin isolating the problem. Including future recommendations and steps here might confuse other community members who are observing and following this thread. Our goal is to share specific resolutions in one thread to organize the available fixes for other users experiencing the same issues.

If you're okay with closing this case about the cosmetic error and diverting to the power usage concern, I will proceed with closing this thread for now. Let me know if this is okay with you.

Update:

Alright, I finally found the Exact Problem, the Problem is the iGPU interfering with the Game and causes the Crash and the Cosmetic Error. And to prevent that you need to switch to dGPU mode in Lenovo Vantage or wait until Driver fix the cosmwtic error for the iGPU. I understand that the thread is no longer being monitored but I'll leave this message just in case someone finds their cosmetic Error. However, I will say that the solution for Cosmetic Error for the iGPU is not guaranteed to fix for all games.

Hi @IcyFrost,

Can we try following the recommendations in this article for isolation purposes and let me know if the crashes persist? Most games have had their issues resolved through the most recent Windows update for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. We're not sure if this is a DRM crash issue, but please follow the steps outlined here and let me know if it works.

Hi @IcyFrost,

To assist you effectively, I need to replicate the problem on my end. Please follow the instructions below:

  1. Kindly provide me with the specific game settings you are using. This will help me recreate the environment and better understand the issue.
  2. When the game crashes, please take note of the exact error message you receive. This information is crucial for diagnosing the problem.
  3. If the crashing issue is being recorded, please collect any dump or log files generated during the crash. These files contain valuable data that can aid in pinpointing the cause of the issue.

For further guidance, please refer to this link: Intel Community - Reporting a Bug or Issue with Arc GPU. Specifically, look for the section on Crashing/Freezing Issues/BSOD for detailed instructions on how to gather and submit the necessary information.

Once you have collected the above details, please share them with me so I can proceed with the investigation. I appreciate your cooperation and am committed to resolving this issue as swiftly as possible.

Hello Sir Randy,

Never mind about the Crash, I just got unlucky. After Multiple Launch test everything seems to work fine. There's only one issue is that. It's stuttery. Even at lowest Settings it's still stutters. However, My Wifi Connection is good. I have finally installed 16GB RAM. And I don't know the issue other than Drivers. I was playing on multiple test to confirm this issue and it was.

It was an average of 100-120 FPS (also at 65W) and somehow in a Spike it was 1 FPS. I'm not sure why it did that other than Drivers. And also, the iGPU (Intel UHD Graphics) is the one causing the crash and is related to drivers. I really hope it can be fixed soon.

The Game that I tested is on this Title (Star Wars Battlefront 2) it was tested on Ultra Settings and Lowest Settings. The Lenovo Vantage is on Performance Mode. With Intel Graphics Command Center at Plughed in Maximum Performance.

Update:

I found the Hybrid mode in Lenovo vantage seems to be more stable FPS than dGPU mode, I think the reason why is because the iGPU and dGPU are working together hence the Intel Deep Link. And also, I don't understand why Intel discontinued it. it would be more perfect for Laptops because of Battery Life in gaming laptops aren't great. However, the iGPU's Drivers (even the latest one as of right now 32.0.101.6881 WHQL) seems to be unstable when I tried playing the game on Hybrid. So in short terms, going dGPU mode might fix the cosmetic error of the iGPU has, but it may be stuttery in some games (depends on the game selected). while, hybrid mode can make the games a little stable on 1% lows or maybe not (depending on the game) I will still investigate the driver issues more.

Hello sir Randy, I understand if this is not being monitored but I'll leave this.

drivers that was tested is 32.0.101.6881 WHQL

the Settings were Ultra Settings (game itself), Hybrid mode (Lenovo Vantage), Performance mode (Lenovo vantage), Maximum Performance (Intel Graphics Command Center)

To make it reproduce, it's very simple just open the game with these settings and test. there, sometimes it can crash. for dGPU mode, it's stuttery. I finally upgrade the RAM and confirm the crash wasn't the RAM (24GB during the test) I will provide the screenshot. However, for some reason the game doesn't let me screen shot. and Also, I tried to upload the Crashdump files but Intel Community doesn't support the file currently.
