The card has delay when outputting the beginning of an audio playback

When starting to play an audio, sometimes the GPU will take time to output the audio to the monitor. This happens only with DisplayPort; the HDMI port isn't affected by this issue.

I noticed that it happens mostly when the GPU hasn't sent audio for some time (like 5 minutes). Here, when it will be asked to play audio (like when resuming a YouTube video), it won't sent audio for around 2 seconds, and after those 2 seconds, it will send the audio to the monitor like normal. This means that when it happens, the user won't be able to hear the beginning of the audio he wants. This is like if the audio chip on the GPU was off and is taking some time to "boot" up. This doesn't always happen.
I've linked an Intel Scan Report, and 4 videos of examples where the issue happens (you can hear the spacebar of me resuming the video, with the audio coming 2 seconds later). I have already done a DDU.

(Please do not ask me to get use the stable version of Windows and get of the Insider Preview, I'm already on the queue to opt out)

No one was answering me since more than a week on my last post, so I'm making a new one. I have closed the former

I've just noticed something else by the way:

Sometimes, only sometimes, when starting to play the audio, the first 0.2 or so seconds will be played, the audio then shuts down, and is coming back a second later

Hi Andres P.

I have the same issue as many others for for almost 8 months. I thought I would wait for you to fix it as you state it as a known issue. I am using a Display port on Dell Dell S3221QS which has built in speaker.

I have updated my driver today to 101.4669. You admit there is an issue. This issue is not stated in your release note - why not?

Windows has updated my version to 22621.2215 today - still the same audio problem - and other version as well. If you accept this is a know issue please report it and advise a fix date - I am tired of the 300 to 400 ms audio delay.

There is no point in providing you any more information - you already know about it.

I have built my own system and have never had this problem before - so frustrating and I expect more from Intel - which I have always trusted and used your CPU

Hi Mark,

I have a strong assumption that Andres P. will not answer since he stated that they stopped monitoring this thread. This is bad because the issue is still there and we, the Customers, have not received any tangible answer when it will be fixed. So I gave up and "fixed" the issue by putting my Arc A770 back to its box and installed another vendor's GPU in my machine. And magically the Displayport audio issue disappeared on the same Windows installation with the same display and DP cable. I am happy to see that DX9 and DX11 performance is getting better and better with the new drivers, but I would perfer fixing known functional issues (like ours) instead of optimizing "legacy" APIs.

I hope to see the A770 in my PC again at some point in the future, but for now it rests peacefully in its box.

Endre

Hey, maybe you'd like to close the thread you've just opened, and go to the Intel Graphics Community Issue Tracker : https://github.com/IGCIT/Intel-GPU-Community-Issue-Tracker-IGCIT

Here, in IGCIT, there are actual engineers, while in the Intel Arc Forums, they're not engineers but PR people

Look at the Reddit post I've made, and how everyone says the same thing : https://www.reddit.com/r/IntelArc/comments/14g8cvy/if_you_want_to_report_bugs_to_intel_arc_engineers/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=2&utm_content=1

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your time and patience.

I am sorry for the long time this has taken, but we have been working really hard to find a solution as soon as possible. A fix for this issue is included with Window 11 23H2 update, released yesterday. Please follow the steps below and let me know the results:

Hello TheWonderfulPie,

We noticed you contacted us related to a Blue Screen of Death issue, if you agree we can make a case for this, or if you prefer you can open another thread for that issue, so we can properly track and assist him.

By the way, remember to update Windows to version 23H2 and clean install the graphics driver to version 31.0.101.4900 with DDU.

Hi Andres,

I have clean installed Windows 11 23H2 22631.2506

I then loaded Intel driver 31.0.101.4900

Sound is now synchronized and from my testing everything works finally.

I then loaded Beta driver 31.0.101.4952, same result sound is now synchronised.

Thank you for all your information and support

Regards

Mark

I didn't answer you, somebody else did
And no I wasn't able to, because in the IGCIT, I explicitly said that even a DDU did not do anything. The PC repair store said that the driver update broke the BIOS, and they were able to flash it

Hello TheWonderfulPie,

Thank you for your response and clarification.

I appreciate for keeping me informed of your situation, since the issue persists for you I will keep this thread open.

Previously I recommended you to update Windows to version 23H2. Were you able to do it? Remember that a fix for this issue is included in this version.

I completely understand that the DDU did not work for you in previous graphics driver versions, and I would like to know if it is fine for you to try to use DDU one more time since we released a new graphics driver version 31.0.101.4952, in case the Windows update does not work for you.

Please let me know the results, it will be a pleasure to continue helping you with this issue.
