STK2MV64CC DC connector question

Hi, okay.. third time I build this question.. hopefully to get an honest answer!

In the manual of the STK2MV64CC I found this:

"The power adapter is connected to the Intel Compute Stick via a six foot USB Type C cable. "

so in theory I could use any other AC2DC Power Adapter 5V / 4A with micro USB connector and a micro USB to USB 3.1c adapter to power the STK2MV64CC

but later in the manual I also found this note:

"The supplied power adapter and cable is required to power the Intel Compute Stick. Powering the Intel Compute Stick using any other power source is not supported."

what does this mean? When it's powered by a USB Type C cable, this is a standard, right? Why should this not work with any other 5V / 4A AC2DC USB Type C Adapter ?? Is there some kind of Logic inside the Intel DC Power Adapter that prevents the stick from booting if I use another DC Power adapter?? This is important to know, if the Intel Adapter fails one day and there is no original replacement.

so my question is .. Is it possible, in theory, to use another 5V / 3A-4A Adapter with usb type c connector to power up the STK2MV64CC - even if i void the support if I use this on my own risk?

Thank you for contacting the Intel Communities.

The information and notes you mentioned from the technical specifications file for the STK2MV64CC would be related to the scenario where the customer tries to power the unit from an existing USB port present in the TV or monitor to be used with the Intel® Compute Stick.

Using that USB port as power source probably would not comply with the necessary "juice" to power up the unit.

For that reason, the note "The supplied power adapter and cable is required to power the Intel Compute Stick. Powering the Intel Compute Stick using any other power source is not supported." was added in the TSP.

If a TV has an orange colored USB port, it would have more chance to be able to power up the Intel® Compute Stick; however, the best way to go would be with the power adapter included.

Theoretically, if you use a spare power adapter that has the same power specs as the one supplied with the unit, you should be able to power up the device without any problems.

thank you for your answer, that's exactly what I thought, so I can buy the STK2MV64CC stick on release and exchange it against my 1st generation compute stick wich is attached to my Commodore 64 and powered by a custom DC power running at full performance setting without problems.
