Quartus Prime Floating License

Hi,

I am installing Quartus Prime Floating license.

I have the .dat file. But I dont know how to set the path to the alterad vendor daemon executable. I dont even know what what and were the daemon files are.

My understanding is that I need to install the license on my machine and then I can give access to my team members(as I bought 3 seats). Is there anything else I need in terms of hardware, like an external server to get license working

I have been struggling a lot with this. Would appreciate help on this.

Hello

Welcome to Intel forum. But before setting up license, would you kindly help check, whether your machine is supported or not (OS) by referring to link below:

https://www.altera.com/support/support-resources/download/os-support.html

Make sure the port used by license server or vendor daemon is not blocked. The port number is required for Windows systems and should be outside of the 27000-28000 range and be unique on the machine. The following example shows how to specify port numbers in a floating license file. example, specify ports 1800, 1801, and 1802.

SERVER myServer 0123456789ab 1800

VENDOR alterad ./alterad port=1801

VENDOR mgcld ./mgcld port=1802

Please stop and restart the server. You need to allow the firewall access to the port number from both server and client machine.

You can also refer to link below for more detailed instructions for Setting up a floating network license server (page 37 of 59):

Please tell me where is the license server or vendor daemon. I am not using any external server. I have simply installed license in my laptop machine. Do i need an external server?

Hi

A Floating license is a floating network (multi-user) license for users running the Intel Quartus Prime software on multiple computers connected on a network. Yes, a license server is needed to issue licenses to computers on demand.

You can refer here for more: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/programmable/us/en/pdfs/literature/manual/quartus_install.pdf

The following is YouTube for license setup.
