I have some projects to maintain with Quartus 8.0 and the licence generator just gives errors :
There is an issue in generating the license for this provided NIC/Host ID: 8C04BA3E7DD3
Please check your NIC/Host ID and try again. If you still encounter problems, please contact our customer support.
Intel FPGA Applications 24/7 Technical Support: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/mysupport
And if I try and contact Intel direct, I get another error that tells me im not authorised to contact them.
Any ideas?

Hi Steve,
Have you provided correct NIC/Host ID while generating or renewing the license?
Please refer the links below & try again,
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/f/download/licensing/lic-q2web.html
Network Interface Card Number:Your NIC number is a 12-digit hexadecimal number that identifies the Windows workstation that serves the Quartus II Web Edition license. You can find the NIC number for your network card by typing ipconfig /all at a command prompt. Your NIC number is the number on the physical address line, minus the dashes. For example, 00C04FA392EF. Click here for an example.
If still issue persists, provide "FFFF FFFF FFFF" in NIC field & then provide actual NIC number in any other description field.
Please let me know, how it works for you.
Regards,
Vicky

Hello Steve & Guillaume,
Have you tried the solution provided in my previous post?
If you are unable to generate the licensing file then apply through the self service licensing center,
https://fpgasupport.intel.com/Licensing/license/index.html

Vicky

Hello Vicky,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I've tried the solution you provided in your previous post, but I didn't succeed:
- Once on the page https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/f/download/licensing/lic-q2web.html, I fill in the information and submit, but I never receive any e-mail.
- As for the "FFFF FFFF FFFF" solution, I don't manage to enter this value (NIC field is limited in length to the 12 MAC address digits, or maybe I should enter "FFFFFFFFFFFF" (without the spaces)) and I don't know then where to enter the actual NIC value.
And I've just tried the last solution you mentioned, the self service licensing center, but I don't manage to do anything because I have no software listed there.
I hope we will find soon how to solve this issue, as for now I'm blocked on a project for which an urgent modification is due.
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards,
Guillaume.

Hello Vicky
I tried the normal way, and your suggested xxxxx way. There is no field to enter xxx apart from the line below which is I think for comments.
The license generator ignored both requests and sent me nothing.

Hi Vicky,
Sorry I haven't replied to you sooner, I was waiting for having further information following the first feedback I received.
This first feedback is the same as the one Steve received (the message from Winnie).
Unfortunately, when I click on the “free license” link (which points to https://www.altera.com/support/licensing/free_software/lic-q2web.jsp), I have the following results, depending on whether I’m logged in or not:
- If I’m not logged in, I arrive on a “We're sorry This page is temporarily unavailable.” page.
- If I’m logged in, the new page tells me “Unauthorized Sorry! Proper authorization is required for this area..”.
This morning, I received this new message from Winnie:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Guillaume,
Kindly follow below steps to register for PSG access.
1. Click on this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/my-intel/fpga-sign-in.html?redirect=/content/www/us/en/secure/my-intel/dashboard.html
2. Click the Register now for an individual account
3. You will be brought to the registration form. Fill in the first name, last name, business email address and username.
4. You should be able to see the error message “Email is already registered. Enter a new email or Sign In”. Please click on the “Sign In” link.
5. You will be taken back to the FPGA registration form. The form will be updated with your profile, please enter additional info required to register for FPGA account.
6. Complete the form and the FPGA basic access will be added into your <login_id> account.
7. Login again and you should be able to see Intel FPGA links within My Intel > My Tools.
For example the Self-Service Licensing Center link.
8. Done.
Regards,
Winnie
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I followed the procedure (remark: you have to be logged out for this to work as described) and at the end I had much more options in the "My Intel" menu, especially "Intel® FPGA Self Service Licensing Center".
That's why I was very confident but, unfortunately, I still have the same issue, that is failure e-mail with the first link and no e-mail with the second link (the links from my first post).
I will forward these results to Winnie.
Thanks again for your support.
Best regards,
Guillaume.

Hi Vicky
As requested, I used the link you provided and even that refused to accept my NIC address as valid!!!!!!! its hex numbers with no errors. I had to put xxxxxxxxx etc in the NIC box and put my actual NIC in the text. Something very stupid is going on. SInce the demise of the Altera branding things seem to be going downhill, not only with difficulty getting support, but also product obsolescence.

Hi Vicky and Steve,
I confirm, I had the same issue with the NIC box.
I had to put FFFFFFFFFFFF instead of my actual NIC number (I tried without and with dashes, uppercase and lowercase).
Best regards,
Guillaume.

Guys and gals at Intel/Altera
After 2 weeks I still don't have a working license. I have used Altera since 1993, and its now come to the point where I cant even get a license
Please sort this out. All options provided so far either reject the NIC, says its invalid in a later email, and for Winnies link doesn't provide a response at all. No license. Even this forum is laggy and hard to use!

Hello Vicky,
Some days ago, Winnie sent to me a one-year license file and today he kept me informed about the fact that they are working to fix the license webpage.
So, it's ok for me and I consider the issue as closed for now.
Thanks and best regards,
Guillaume.
