Hi all
I'm Using Altera/Intel Monitor Program 21.1
I've installed WSL1 (Ubuntu 18.04) as suggested in
https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-FPGA-University-Program/intel-FPGA-Monitor-Program-can-t-work/m-p/1405441#M4489
and applying all the updates as in:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683525/21-3/installing-windows-subsystem-for-linux.html
Notwithstanding this
When I download a .sof file into the FPGA using the Monitor Program, after programming the FPGA it does not return the prompt and actually freezes, maintaining the "rotating prompt".
The only solution is to kill Monitor Program, and restart the project WITHOUT downloading the .sof file anymore.

Hi,
According to this link here:https://fpgacademy.org/tools.html
The available versions for the monitor program are 18.1 and 21.1 only. Do take note, the Monitor Program version has to match your version of the Quartus Prime software meaning the .sof file produced has to be either 18.1 or 21.1 to use the monitor program.
I will check with the internal engineering to see if they have any future developments on this program and get back to you as soon as I have any news.
Thank you.
Regards,
Kelly

Hi,
Greetings and welcome to Intel's forum for discussion.
I am glad you managed to find a workaround for this issue. May I confirm with you the Quartus version that you are using is 21.1?
Is this a roadblock for your project?
Hope to hear from you.
Thank you.
Regards,
Kelly

Thank you for your reply
Actually the .sof file has been generated using Quartus 22.1. However the problem is limited to Intel Monitor Program.
I leave this feedback hoping developers of Monitor Program could update it.

Probably adopting 21.1 would bypass the problem, but since I've installed 22.1, I do not think to downgrade the version till the problem is limited to this nuisance, in the feature, if I'll decide to make this step I'll give you feedback.

Hi Kelly,
The described bug exists for Quartus 21.1 in the same way as for 22.1. Therefore this "Accepted Solution" is no solution at all. You need to use the workaround given in the initial posting for 21.1 as well as for 22.1.
