How do I subscribe only to new threads and not receive every single post?

Hi
I;m new to this forum, and finding it a bit hard to manage. I want to keep abreast of the discussion here, so I clicked "subscribe to this forum" but I am getting every single post emailed to me. I only want to be notified of new threads. How do I set this up? (In my email settings I have no boxes checked).
It's also a bit annoying that the email notifications only provide the first 3 lines of the post --- why on earth does it do this? If it provided the whole post I wouldn't need to go to the forum to read the rest of the post, I'd have it all there in my inbox.
Thanks
Simon

Perhaps you'd find the RSS feed of more use to you?
