Recently I tried to install IVF9.1 Pro on a new machine with 2 Opteron quad-core processors (Shanghai kernel) running x64. The compiler installation (32 and 64) went smoothly. In order to get IMSL installed on the system with 8 kernels, the advice posted by Steve Lionel on February 2, 2007, concerning the /onecpu option in the boot.ini was considered.
But, even then the installation of the 64bit version of IMSL failed with error message "EM64T-library cannot be installed on a IA-32 system". Might this problem be specific to either the IVF version, to the sequence of installation, or to the hardware ? Would VCF 11 Pro help ?
Thanks for any comment / suggestion / advice. Christoph

That was a bug in the IMSL installation procedure as supplied by VNI. It was fixed as of version 10. I recommend using the version 11 compiler and IMSL, as there are enhanced optimizations to benefit Opteron processors.
