Linking IMSL with parallel studio XE 2011

Hello,
Can anyone please help me in guiding to connect IMSL fortran libraries withparallel studio XE 2011? My IMSL version is 7.0 collected from "Rogue Wave Software". I have followed the guideline fromhttp://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/installing-and-using-the-imsl-libraries/, however didn't work.
Thanks in advance,
Akand

The guide that you cited says, in the very first paragraph:

This article explains how to install, configure and use the IMSL* Fortran Numerical Library, as provided with Intel Visual Fortran Professional Edition with IMSL*, version 11.1. It is not applicable to versions of IMSL obtained from other sources.

You are using a different version of the compiler (12.0.4) and a different version of IMSL (7). That is an unsupported combination, which means that it may work sometimes but, if it does not, you are left to your own devices. That particular combination is supported neither by Intel nor by Roguewave.

Furthermore, there are many reasons for software to fail, and simply saying "didn't work" is not going to enable a diagnosis or lead to a solution.

This is not a combination Intel supports. Since you purchased IMSL 7 from Rogue Wave Software, please contact them for support issues. The guide we have is intended for the bundle of IMSL 6 with Intel Visual Fortran that we sell.

Thanks for response. I will be in touch with "Rogue Wave Software" regarding this issue. Can you please tell me what intel IMSL version is compatible with Intel Parallel Studio XE 2011? Is there any trial or evaluation version of that and how I can obtain?

Hi,

This question had been asked few times in this forum and no clear answer was given. I have a valid commercial license and I am waiting for the combination of IMSL 6.0 and the newer compiler (XE edition) since November 2010. No update so far and no clear date in horizon. The time flow of my projects is dangling around. We are studying the replacement of IMSL subroutines but this is a new cost and if we spend on it, we have to cut somewhere else. There is also another problem: new IMSL runtime licensing scheme which is very restrictive. My understanding is that we will be limited to one runtime license (for developer obviously) My managers are as much confused as I am.

I cannot blame anyone for this delay; all I can do is crossing my fingers hoping to get the IMSL 6.0 with XE compiler as soon as possible

At present, Intel supports IMSL 6.0 with Intel Visual Fortran Professional Edition version 11.1. We are as anxious as anyone to release the combination of IMSL 6.0 with Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2011. We're not willing to give dates because each time we think we have one, issues arise that push it off.

We're also waiting for Rogue Wave to approve the licensing Q+A we have developed. We will post that as soon as such approval is granted.

Thanks for response. How I can get link forIntel Visual Fortran Professional Edition version 11.1 (at least for trial version at this moment)? Inhttp://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-compilers/all I see XE 2011 version!

Rogue Wave Software saya that their IMSL 7.0 is compatible withIntel compiler 11.1.065. Is this same asIntel Visual Fortran Professional Edition version 11.1?

When you request a trial copy of Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2011, you'll be assigned a serial number. Register that serial number at the Intel Registration Center. Then follow the instructions here to get the older version. 11.1.065 is 11.1 Update 6.

Dear Steve Lionel,
Thanks for response. I have already installed parallel studio xe 2011. As per your guideline I have collected older version 11.1.065 (11.1 update 6). Now should I uninstall parallel studio xe 2011 and then install 11.1 Update 6, or keeping parallel studio xe 2011 uninstalled I should install 11.1 Update 6? Next question, is visual studio 2010 is compatible with 11.1.065 version?

No, compiler version 11.1 is not compatible with VS2010. Since you are evaluating, you don't have access to the download that includes the Visual Studio 2008 shell.

You can try to use IMSL 7 with the 12.0 compiler, but any questions about it need to be addressed to Rogue Wave. Assuming they built that version of IMSL with the 11.1 compiler, it might work.

Thanks for response.
As I have already parallel studio xe 2011 in my system should I uninstall first and then install 11.1 Update 6, or keeping parallel studio xe 2011 installed I should install 11.1 Update 6?

You do not need to uninstall Parallel Studio XE but will need to have Visual Studio 2003, 2005 or 2008 in order to use 11.1.
