what type of linux distro to install to use IFC

Hi,

due to some problems with library compilation in the windows environment, i've to compile my codes and libraries in linux.

i just need this linux to compile my code in fortran/c using IFC/ICC. simple as that. no need for GUI or other fancy stuff.

I hope it can be small/simple as possible. So what distros of linux should I use? I read about colinux & damm small linux. Are they possible?

I would recommend sticking with the distributions listed in the compilers' system requirements. I have never heard of colinux and damn small linux and I know we have not tested those. Distributions from or compatible with Red Hat or SuSE are more likely to work than those that are derived from Debian.

Here is the current list:

  • Red Hat* Linux 7.3, 8, 9
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux* 2.1, 3, 4
  • SUSE* LINUX 8.2, 9.1
  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server* 8, 9, 10
  • Fedora* Core 4
