When trying to iniciate Topaz Studio 2 (photo edition program) in my old Acer Aspire 5930 with Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family integrated graphics, it fails to run showing a message that OpenGL 2 or higher is needed.
Is there a way to update the driver or download compatible one with OpenGL 2 or higher ?
Thanks

Are you running Windows 10?  If so, you are using the microsoft generic driver, which lacks features and performance.

You need to move to new(er) hardware.

Hi AlHill,

I am running win10 since I upgraded RAM memory to 4Gb and new SSD. In fact Photoshop CC2019 works friendly.  I have installed the Intel driver utility and scanned system. Here is what it shows:

Since I guess graphic`s driver is up to date, it should support OpenGL 2 or higher?

If so, maybe the problem is the installation of Topaz Studio. Should try to uninstall and turn to install.

Again, the Microsoft supplied driver LACKS features and performance.

Ok, I thought Intel utility should detect improper driver and suggest for proper one.

Then I should replace it with the Intel original one.

How can I find the proper driver?

There is no Intel driver for your chipset for windows 10.

If you are a laptop, you need to get a new(er) laptop that is supported by windows 10.

If you are a desktop, you might, repeat might, be able to find an old nvidia card that is still supported, perhaps a gtx 750 or 1050.

The reality of the situation is that your hardware is too old.  You need a new(er) system.

Certainly I had already made up my mind that eventually I have to change my laptop.
However I was only trying to find out if OpenGL 2 was supported by my old chipset/driver in any way.
Best regards,

OpenGL 2.0 is supported by the old driver for the old OS - Windows 8 and earlier.  However, Windows 10 does not support it.  That is why Microsoft has their generic driver.

And, using IDSA is not going to help you in this quest to find a non-existent Intel driver for your chipset.

Your chipset is more than 12 years old (2008).  It is not supported on Windows 10, nor Windows 8.1.  It has long been discontinued and unsupported.

Also, your entire platform is not supported on Windows 10.  Running Windows 10 in 4GB, while it may run, is not an ideal situation.

You need to abandon this platform, sooner rather than later.
