i just bought a brandnew NUC10i5FNH and installed 16GB Kingston Value RAM and a Samsung EVO 860 M2 SSD. When the unit is powered on, the fan starts to run at full speed and remains at that speed. According to the BIOS, this is > 4000 rpm with all temperatures at low level. I then upgraded the BIOS to the latest version (dated 3/17/2022) but to no improvement. I reloaded recommended settings and tried different cooling settings (even fan completely off), but the behaviour does not change.
I presume that you are using the Windows-based BIOS update mechanism? If so, try doing the BIOS update again via the F7 method. If this doesn't help, try doing the BIOS update again, but this time using the BIOS Recovery method. All of these are documented here:
Hope this helps,
BIOS update was done using F7 method.
I now did the recovery update as well as described. No change. I guess i have to try Intel support or return the unit to the company where i bought it. Is there no final check in the Intel factory!?
Anyway, thanks for your help.
If you are within the first 30 days, any reputable company will replace the unit for you. Beyond 30 days, you need to use RMA process with Intel.
After verifying that your warranty is (still) active (here: Determine if Your Product Is Still Under Warranty), you need to directly contact Intel Customer Support to initiate the RMA process (you cannot do this through the forums). You can start here: Contact Intel Support or use this page where you can directly look up local/country phone numbers: Intel Support Phone Directory.
You can use the online forms service or email, but I actually recommend calling them directly. The above link provides local or toll-free numbers for most countries and these numbers support most local languages. You could also use the chat service (start here: Intel Customer Support Chat), but understand that this service is offered only in English and is subject to the normal (9:00-5:00 M-F) office hours in the Pacific (UTC-8) time zone.
Hope this helps,
if you come to here with the same problem: Problem could not be solved via BIOS update. It seems to be a hardware problem. I returned the NUC and got a new one which is working fine.
