Here's a direct reference to the corresponding article to save those some time who are interested in the security advisory in question which deals with "[...] new potential security vulnerabilities [including] derivatives of speculative execution side-channel analysis methods [...]": https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000028717/mini-pcs.html "Intel-SA-00115 for Intel® NUC, Intel® Compute Stick, and Intel® Compute Card" (Article ID: 000028717).
m_ueberall I don't understand WHY you posted here and what security advisory are you referring to?
Apologies to m_ueberall, when I read the bullet below, I stopped. I understand why you posted it here much better.
That problem has NOTHING to do with NUC8i7H*K
Intel® NUC products launched after February 2018 aren't affected by this issue.
That's simply not the case. This advisory is talking about vulnerabilities identified subsequent to the original Spectre variants. None of the NUCs (or Compute Sticks or Compute Cards) are immune and, so far, only a few have BIOS releases that have received the necessary microcode updates -- and NUC8i7H*K is still pending.
I agree with the original sentiment, however; I am unsure why Markus posted this in this conversation.
Actually Mike, thank you. I need to update that article.
Guys, I can imagine he posted it in this article because it's in the release notes for BIOS 0047: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27992/eng/HN_0047_ReleaseNotes.pdf https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27992/eng/HN_0047_ReleaseNotes.pdf
Thanks for the correction.
The security bulletin might be incongruent *or* the launch date of the Hades Canyon as published, is not specific enough (Q1'18).
In the arrowed bullet, the bulletin says: Intel NUC products launched after February 2018 aren't affected by this issue.
When were the H*K's launched? I thought the Hades Canyon was not launched until March 2018?
Also, the link for NUC products in the bulletin takes you to a Salesforce login.
