Hi Intel
We have the performance question on Intel Optane SSD 900P.
We have try your Evaluation Guide at first.
The Latency performance on SPEC is 10 µs, but our system result is read: 17 µs & write: 23 µs.
picture as below:
Have any method can upgrade our latency performance?
Test Configuration:
System: Gigabyte Purley platfrom 2U system
Chipset: C62x series
CPU: Intel Gold 6146 2pcs
Memory: Crucial DDR4 2666 8G x8
OS HDD: Intel S4600 960 GB
Testing SSD: Intel Optane SSD 900P 280GB
OS: Windows 2016
NVMe Driver: 4.0.0.1007
Thank you
B.R.

Hello yuehhan,
Thanks for posting.
Advertised performance results may vary depending on system, usage, benchmark tool, etc. For example, here are the system specifications used at our lab tests:
Tool: IOMeter*
System: Intel® Core™ i7-6950X @ 3.00GHz, Asus X99 motherboard, NVIDIA Geforce*GTX1080, Chipset: Intel® INF 10.0.20.0, Memory: 64GB (4X16GB) DDR4-2400, Microsoft Windows 10* Enterprise 64-bit, using Intel NVMe* driver 2.0.0.1024.
Please bear in mind that Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series is an https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/gaming-enthusiast-ssds.html Enthusiast SSD, meant for home use (such as gaming). For server use, please refer to the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/data-center-ssds.html Data Center SSD family.
There's not a specific change or modification we can recommend to improve latency in this case. As explained in the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025989/memory-and-storage.html Evaluation Guide for Client Intel® Optane™ SSD's, you may run custom tests geared toward your needs in order to determine if an SSD model will work for you.
Best regards,
Eugenio F.

Hi Eugenio
Thanks for your reply.
I will prepare a X299 system and use IOmeter to try again, but can you provide your IOmeter test value for us to try?
Thank you
B.R.

Hello yuehhan,
Thanks for your reply.
The IOMeter* values are not part of the drive public documentation. However, I'm going to check if there's anything else we can do for you regarding this matter.
We'll notify you as soon as we have updates.
EDIT: yuehhan We were informed that the same recommendations found on the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025989/memory-and-storage.html previously shared evaluation guide were used for the original benchmark. Even though, there are no details available in the specific settings used on IOMeter*.
Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.
Best regards,
Eugenio F.
