i wanted to update windows 1909 on my hp Spectre x360 and all of my search results on google said: but your bios in legacy and update your windows from usb. The Laptop model is free to use with windows 2004/2h20 - said the HP Webseite... but NOWHERE any hint, that the installation with optane is quite different to a normal windows with a single ssd/hdd .... now **bleep** happens

how can i get my data back without losing all of it .. just in that moment i didnt have a backup because of switching my synology nas to a newone .. and espaccially now my laptop breaks ..

i switched bios from secure boot enabled to disabled and uefi boot to leagcy boot and started an windows update. the update didn't completed caused in errors i didn't remember .. i didn't think, that this is a problem ... i didn't know, there is something special with optane. i didn't know my NVMe and Optane makes a raid togehter

now my C drive isn't locked with bitlocker and on it are only a few Windows Files to see..   my own files should somewhere on this drive, locked with bitlocker ??! (how) can i get them back???

i didn't make a disk format ,, i just wanted to make a installfrom windows over the existing windows"

Also MS Media Creation Tool runterladen, bootbaren USB Stick erstellt.

@Stetto,

I hate to say it, but I see no solution other than hiring a Data Recovery company to recover what files they can. You could attempt to reactivate the Optane Caching to see if this will recover the file system integrity, but this could potentially cause even further damage to the files (since changes have already been made since the module was disconnected and more would be necessary to get to the point where the module could be activated).

Sorry,

Hi Scott,

i found bitlocker metadata on the optane drive and have some further questions for tries as solution to recovery, because thats most a new question i did an own thread for that:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-Optane-Memory/What-will-happen-if-i-remove-Optane-from-Notebook-Mainboard-and/m-p/1235717#M7144

This first thread is still open, and maybe one reader knows an other solution idea or had already stuck in the same situation and will post that here.
