Hi,
I am using the 64 bit version of Quartus 13.0.1 (the last version that supports my device) under Widows 7 with IE11. When I try to use Quartus Help, I get an error "Error reading masterData.xml" and the search function doesn't work etc. Can anyone help please? regards DaveLink Copied

Try using Chrome or Firefox to open the Quartus II help.

After installing it, Chrome doesn't even open the help file
file:///C:/altera/13.0sp1/quartus/common/help/webhelp/master.htm#mergedProjects/quartus/gl_quartus_welcome.htm The Chrome "X"/"circle" just toggles- Mark as New

I met the same problem and found a way.
Download an old version Firefox and try. I find a 3.0.2 version Firefox and works well in WIN7. IE 8.0 in WinXP is also OK.- Mark as New

Hi,
thanks a lot for the feedback. I may give it a try, but surely there must be a way to get this to work with IE without resorting to trying different browsers? Does anyone from Altera monitor these forums? If I am not the only person that has a problem with Quartus Help and IE, then surely there must be a known solution? I have not been able to find any knowledge base articles etc. on the subject regards Dave- Mark as New

You only can find at altera site "We know about problem", btw local Quartus 15.1 Help works fine in my Firefox 42. for 15.0 i had to use IE.
I think Altera software developement team put attention on new product-line more.- Mark as New

Unfortunately, (as I mentioned previously) V13 is the latest version that I can use.
I didn't even find "We know about problem" on the Altera site. I am not surprised that Altera would not put resources into fixing a (potential) issue in Release 13, but I would have hoped that they might be able to offer advice if this was/is a known problem with Quartus- Mark as New

When I surfed the altera site 6 monthes ago for your question it was.
You always can use online resource from http://quartushelp.altera.com but useful information stored in pdf and you can download them separately. check also http://www.altera.com/support/support-resources.html I am not sure if this trick can be applied what file should be borrowed from Quartus Prime (15.1) Help that allow launch of your local Quartus II 13 Help <- Perhaps all helpfiles . it is not included in standard installation package and can be used without quartus.- Mark as New

I think that I know what the problem is -
It seems that Quartus Help is built using RoboHelp, and the Adobe site shows :- https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/webhelp-issues-robohelp-versions-10.html NB : The article describes my problem and also notes the Chrome issue that I saw when I installed it - the "try Chrome" advice couldn't help But I can't fix it, as I don't know how to (or even whether you can) rebuild the Quartus Help files :-(- Mark as New

Firefox 52.9.0 ESR 32/64bit in Win10 is also OK.
Mozilla Firefox 52.9.0 installation directory can be named otherwise.
EX:
Web Browser: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 52.9\firefox.exe
