Failed to start in Programmer

Hi all,

I'm trying to start with Programmer after compilation.

When I hit "Start" button, the progress bar stopped at 0% (Failed).

Are there any ways to check error messages regarding the above issue?

Could you please go through the steps provided in the user guide and check if there is any configuration or device compatible issue?

Errors/warnings would appear in the usual Messages window of the main Quartus window.  Check there.

Thank you for reply.

I checked Quartus Prime Pro's main screen, but there was no error message regarding the issue I'm trying to resolve.

Hi Richard,

I'm stil trying to resolve above issue.

My device is Intel® Stratix® 10 TX Signal Integrity Development Kit.

The example design file is Stratix10_PCIeGen3x8_DMA_18_0.

After compilation, I'm trying to go further at "Programmer" stage.

When I clicked "Auto Detect", then pop-up says I should select my device from the list below.

I think my device is not here, so what should I do to select my device correctly?

Hi,
according to user guide, the Stratix 10 device is 1ST280EY2. The programmer however doesn't care for speed code, so any of the three selections should work. More important that the correct device is select in your project, can be expected for examples shipped with board.

Thank you for your reply, FvM.

After selecting the device "1ST280EY2", I have a pop-up warning with the message below:

Junyong_0-1693872025946.png

I'm wondering why the message showed up. I already modify the Instance with Stratix 10:1ST280EY2F55E1VG. But, the compiled stuff has the device of 1SX280LU3F50S1.

Can I know how to change the device name in the project?

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your reply. It helped, but my problem isn't resolved yet. Could you please refer to my reply above?

I noticed that your project has selected the device "Stratix 10:1ST280EY2F55E1VG." Could you please try cleaning the project (Project > Clean Project) and then recompiling it?

Also, I'd like to ask if you might be using the old .sof file that was generated for the previous device by any chance?

Best Regards,

Richard Tan

Thank you, Richard.

I'm tyring to compile the project after cleaning it.

By the way, I have a question regarding the JTAG ID code.

When I program the project, I got a message that "Cant' configure deivce. Expected JTAG IC code 0x4321D0DD for device2, but found JTAG ID code 0x323D0DD. Make sure the location of the target device on the circuit board matches the device's location in the device chain in the chain description file (.cdf)."

Honestly, I have no idea how to handle above issue.

Hi,
your latest posts suggests that you are trying to program the wrong device in JTAG chain, MAX V rather than Stratix 10. Although it should be able to select the correct device in programmer, I suggest to remove MAX V from device chain by respective DIP switches. User manual tells how.

Thank you for your reply.

After removing the MAX V from the device chain, I tried to program the project again.

I had a message that File "Generated .sof" is incomplete - Power management settings are not set up appropriately on VID part.

So, should I modify the power management setting? I have no idea why this happend, becuase I just downloaded, compiled, and programmed the example PAR file on my dev kit.

You probably need to follow the settings here and in the linked power management user guide:
