Hello,
I recently wrote in to report a problem I had with Quartus 23.2 Windows 11 and generating an HDMI IP example. I installed Quartus 23.4 Windows 11 and I still cannot get an example to generate. I get the errors attached and am using the settings also attached. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Drew

Hi Drew,
Good day.
Thank you for your patience.
At the moment, we do not observe any error during generating design example.
Allow me to clarify some items below first:
Q1. May I know which Windows operating version you are using?
Q2. Do you have multiple Quartus version install in the same operating system?
Please make sure that you have sufficient storage in your operating system to generate example design.
Insufficient storage may also lead to error during generating example design.
Looking forward to hear back from you so that we can proceed for next step.
Thank you.
Best Regards,

Hello,
I am using Windows 11 version 23H2.
No, I only am using Quartus 23.4.
I have over 50 GB of space. I can generate other examples from different IP's, but not the display IP's.
Thank you,
Drew

Hi Drew,
Good day.
Thank you for your reply.
I have found the same error as what you are experiencing.
After running some test, we found that this error occurs when selecting "Custom Development Kit" in the target development kit option in IP Parameter Editor in Quartus software.

Screenshot2
To workaround for this issue, you may generate the example design by selecting either "No Development Kit" or "Agilex 7 FPGA Development Kit"
in the target development kit option in IP Parameter Editor.
If you are using custom development kit, you can generate with above selection then you will need to re-assign the pin assignment in order for design example to work on you custom development board.
I have filed in this case to our internal team and they are running investigation on this.
This bug will be fixed in the future release of Intel® Quartus® software.
Thank you Drew and appreciate your input in reporting this error.
With that, do you still have further inquiries on this case?
Is there anything else I can help you with regards to this case?

Hello,
Apologies for not responding sooner, I did not get a notification that I had a new answer. It was a bug due to the board selected. Thank you for letting me know. I will fix it appropriately. Glad that I found this.

Hi Drew,
I am at the exact same point as you are. Did you ever progress and were successful getting the RX-TX example design to work?
I was able to generate the example design but not yet to run it on the Intel® Stratix® 10 SX SoC Entwicklungskits.

Hi Marvin,
Sadly no. I could not find any real non-IP examples since HDMI is a paid service either. Luckily, there is a GitHub for a different FPGA that has Verilog code for HDMI that I am trying to implement in VHDL. It does not have I2C communication, but it is not mandatory apparently for HDMI: GitHub - sipeed/TangPrimer-25K-example: TangPrimer-25K-example project
Good luck,
Drew

Hi Drew,
I was actually able to run the example design on a Stratix 10 1SX280LU2F50. But it does not pass through any video signals. My laptop recognizes the HDMI RX as a video sink.
I quadruplechecked the pinout now but i still suspect something in that area.

Hi Marvin,
The Stratix 10 is far beyond my price range, but if I am understanding correctly, you are trying to send a data signal from the FPGA to your laptop. That is not possible as the laptop HDMI is transfer only. It cannot accept HDMI in. I hope that clears a few things up if I am understanding correctly. If you knew that, my apologies.
