Hi, look at white papers from altera's web site, you will find a MP3 player for an Altera Developpement board.

The DE2 SDcard player only plays .WAV files, no MP3! So you should put some .wav files on the SD card and insert that in your DE2 board.
Read the manual by TerasIC! You must download BOTH your hardware to the DE2 board as well as the Nios2 software!!! Good Luck!
