New Project Template

Hi,

I'm using Qii v14.1, and tried to use the "New project wizard" to create a new project. When proceed to page "Project Type" => Select the type of project to create, I select "Project template", then click "Next". On page "Design Template", I select "MAX 10 Evaluation Kit Baseline Design", then click "Next", then "Finish". However, a dialog box pops up, says "Can't open project -- can't find Quartus II Project File project_name.qpf", with a OK button. Then I checked the project's target directory, and found it really missed the .qpf project file.

Any one can help? this seems quite unexpected.

Hi,

If you want to use any design, you need to download the corresponding .par file from Design Store > Design Examples. You need to install the required .par file on "Design Template" page(option 2) in your target directory, then "Next", then "Finish". Then you can proceed as you wish.

Thanks for the reply Kparate. However, "MAX 10 Evaluation Kit Baseline Design" is preinstalled in Qii V14.1. Also, I tried to download other designs from the Design Store > Design Examples, and then installed them, the same error prompt occurs. Can you please try the New project template on your side? thank you so much.

The pre-installed version seems to have some error. That's why i asked you to download it from Design Store. And I replied you after i ran it on my system. I dont know why you are getting that error. Tell me, do you get a new template installed when you install the .par file? Check the attached image. The red square is the pre-intalled Max 10 Eval kit design & the black square is new installed Max 10 Eval kit design that I installed after downloading the .par file from Design Store.

AM

Dear kparate,

Your success encouraged me. Then I found the problem I had was that I didn't install the .par file. Now the problem is fixed after I intalled the "BeMicro_MAX10_Baseline.par".

It's strange that after I clicked add the installation directory to the design template search paths (http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/on_platform_path) and select the directory where I stored the downloaded .par files, the "Available design template" will show them in the list, as if they're ready for use! this led to my previous mistake. This maybe a s/w bug which may confuse the user.

Thanks for your kind help.

Dear Kparate, sorry for the late reply. I fixed the problem now according to your kind tips, thanks a lot!

In fact, I was misled by Qii since the Available templates will list all my downloaded .par files so I thought it was not necessary to install them.

Now I installed the downloaded .par files and the new project using project template works fine!

Thanks again.

David.

Hi David,

I am glad that it worked out well. Always happy to help. You can also try downloading other examples from Design Store and intall them the same way as above.
