Quartus 10 text and block editors

I am having difficultly with the Quartus 10 editors 

 Major annoyance-> I do not seem to be able to insert symbols onto a block diagram The insert pop up menu option is missing   Minor annoyance-> Amongst other things the standard text edit find feature does not find on F3 meaning you have to have the find dialog open. Very painful and now the editing experience is as bad as using Lattice    Is there any way to configure the tool to use the quartus 9.1sp2 editors. Would there be any side effects if the design was edited in 9.1sp2 and compiled in 10?

i've heard the F3/search problem but when i double click on a .bdf i get the Symbol select menu. 

 you shouldn't have any issues using QII 9.1sp2 (or any other external editor) to edit the RTL, then compile in QII 10.0, i often edit with vi

I didn't (up until now) use double click I always used right click and selected insert of the pop up menu. Atlease I can now insert symbols.
