Unable to program de1 soc device, compilation fine with no errors

This is the simplest design I could think of, something to light up the LEDs. Compilation runs fine with no errors and few warnings.

When I try to program the device in the Programmer window this is the sequence of actions I perform.

1. Since nothing shows up initially I select "Auto Detect"

2. Select device which 5CSEMA5

3. I select 5CSEMA5, right click and add the .sof file

4. At that point I have 3 items in the TDI/TDO chain SOCVHPS, 5CSEMA5 and 5CSEMA5F31.

5. Running "Start" instantly changes the progress to failed

I have tried to remove the either or both of the SOCVHPS/5CSEMA5 items from the chain and then programming it. This has not helped at all.

I can not view what error causes the progress bar to fail.

Windows 11 Home

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Same problems.  Here is how my problem solution list...

1. Problem1: DE1-SOC not recognizing "Hardware Setup" as per no characters visible in the adjacent block to the right.

1a. Solution1: I installed the wrong version.  I downloaded and installed the "light" 23.1.1 free version.  Afterwards the USB cable was recognized as "DE-SoC [USB-1]"

2. Problem2: Programmer would "fail" after pressing the "Start" button.  See my PDF guide

Was having the exact same troubles using this linux OS with programmer not working.  I lost track of the multiple lateral, forward, and backward steps to get this to work, but I ultimately did using the same steps as above,,, except 1 additional at the onset,,,,  see below...

1. Problem1- programmer not working.

1.5. Solution1- reinstalled the free light version.  I had the other and it was not recognizing the USB A to B data cable.

2. Solution1- I reconfigured the switches on the bottom of the fpga board: Per User Manual, 3.1 Settings of FPGA Configuration Mode- "If developers wish to reconfigure FPGA from an application software running on Linux, the MSEL[4:0] needs to be set to 01010 before the programming process begins".

3. Solution1- Followed the same previous posted guide.  Worked fine,,, fiNAlleee :).  Now to create stuff...
