Hi

How to add hardware for programming. What does auto detect do? I want to interface the altera board with Hobbes software.

Do you have any programming hardware? Note: your Altera board doesn't necessarily have programming hardware on it...

Which 'Altera board' do you have? If it has programming hardware built onto it then, providing you're connected to it via USB, the Quartus programmer will automatically detect it.

Alternatively, do you have a USB-Blaster or equivalent from another manufacturer such as Terasic? Providing it's connected to your computer the programmer will automatically find it.

'Add Hardware' is only needed if you have a network connected programmer. I wouldn't expect you to need to add any hardware.

this link (https://www.altera.com/buy/cables---programming-hardware.html) summarises the programming hardware options (if it's not built onto your board).

Cheers,

Alex

Download newer software that supports Windows 7.

Go to the download center (https://www.altera.com/downloads/download-center.html). Under 'Software Selector', click on the 'Select by Device' tab and chose the appropriate version of Quartus for the device on your Altera board.

Cheers,

Alex
