ARM DS-5 compiler

Is it possible to use Intel SOC EDS without the ARM DS-5 compiler which requires a license ? What exactly are these 2 tools and what purpose does each one serve?

I want to program the HPS and run software on it baremetal (No Linux OS or other).

Hi naitgacem

There is a new IDE that is the RiscFree IDE. It is free to use.

However the example projects are currently limited and still in the progress of being added.

Hello, I apologize for the late reply. I have Quartus 18.1 already installed and unfortuantely it does not support this new RiscFree IDE.

Hi naitgacem

Unfortunately there are no other option other than RiscFree and ArmDS5.

Is there are reason sticking to Quartus 18.1? The latest version of Quartus is now at 22.3.

This is such a nasty business model. The newer versions of Quartus lack IP blocks I need and used to be available for free. I have my reasons to stick to Quartus 18 including the already established developement environment. What about ARM-DS community edition license, how does one acquire it ?

Hi naigatcem

So sorry about that, we are moving forward with the RiscFree in the future which is free to use.

You could try the Arm DS5-compiler evaluation license.
