Installation problem with SGX SDK v1.6, error 1603

I think it fails while un-installing the previous version.
I used to have (I believe) SGX SDK for Windows v1.1.30214.81 and got this error when installing SGX SDK for Windows v1.6.10133581

Message:

Error 1. An installation package for the product 2
cannot be found. Try the installation again using
a valid copy of the installation package '3',
Error code: 1603
Product code: ...
Module name: SGX_SDK_100.msi

Attached is a log-file found in %temp%

Thanks for your help
Chris

Hi,

First uninstall the SDK1.1 version fully and restart the system, then try to fresh installation of the latest version SDK1.6.

Hi Surenthar

that was a good idea what to try next,
however, it fails as well, using the exact same error message.
This time it did not generate a log file.

I then did more:
I uninstalled Visual Studio 2012
I tried uninstalling SGX SDK v1.1 again
Uninstalling SGX SDK v1.1 failed again with the same error message.
Installing SGX SDK v1.6 failed again, with the same error message during trying to uninstall the older version.

This really baffled me, as I thought SGX SDK v1.1 was installed on VS 2012, and, v1.6 would be installed on VS 2013

So, if that makes any difference:
The computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad with Win10 pro (Build 14393) and i5-6300 CPU @ 2.50
    patched up to date
    VS2012 was VS2012 professional
    VS2013 is VS2013 ultimate
I hope this doesn't cause problems: I have Intel Parallel Studio XE 2016 Update 3 and Intel VTune Amplifier XE 2016 Update 4,
which I prefer not to uninstall, unless I'm told I should.

Hi,

I am able to install the latest version of Intel SDK (Intel SGX SDK for Windows v1.6.102.34899.exe).

Followed below steps:
1. Uninstall the Old intel SDK (Intel SGX SDK for Windows v1.1.exe)
2. Uninstall the Visual Studio 2012
3. Install the Visual Studio 2013
4. Install the latest version of Intel SDK (Intel SGX SDK for Windows v1.6.102.34899.exe)

Sorry, step 1) Uninstall the Old intel SDK (Intel SGX SDK for Windows v1.1.exe) doesn't work.

I found a work-around:  I installed V1.6 on another computer.
That is however not a very pleasant work-around:  That computer is too old and doesn't support SGX.

I'm no more blocked,
but I am still interested in solving the problem.

I met the same question, too. I attempted to install SGX SDK v2.1, but I found the v1.7 was installed before. So I met the error 1603, too. When I tried to reinstall the SDK v1.7 with repair mode, it showed like:

Repair cannot be done because no installation media is available. Suggestion: Start the install from the original media.

But I can't find the link for SDK v1.7 and it seems like Intel  only provide the latest version v2.1.

I'm really blocked in this problem. And thanks for your help!
