Dell Latitude 7450 Unable to create WiFi Profile

Hi,

I'm trying to get Intel Endpoint Management Assistant to work. I have successfully provisioned a device in ACM. But "CIRA Not Connected"

The devices I try to onboard, are WiFi Only devices, Latitude 7450, Latitude 7440 etc.

Intel® ME: v18.0.10.2351  Admin Control Mode  

CIRA selected: Yes

Intel® AMT setup status: Pending Configuration

Hardware Management Capability: Intel® Active Management Technology

Platform Brand: Intel vPro® Enterprise

Power On

Connected

CIRA Not Connected

When I disable the WiFi Profile in the AMT-Profile, Intel® AMT setup status: succeeds.

When I add the WiFi Profile, it's stuck "Pending Configuration"

In the logs I see that it has problems applying the Wireless Profile:

Why is that?

AMT is enabled in BIOS

Device was provioned via USB Stick

I can't see further options regarding WiFi in the bios or am I blind?

We analyzed the logs and details you shared and found that we missed updating the new FQDN by reinstalling EMA after the domain name was changed from ema.alphatrains.eu to ema.alphatrains.com.

It is required to use the correct FQDN that matches the certificate purchased. Otherwise, issues may occur. Please refer to the link below in the Intel EMA Server Installation Guide, section 2.2.1.3 Load Balancer Information, which shows the screenshot where you need to update the latest FQDN from ema.alphatrains.eu to ema.alphatrains.com.

Once this is done, please disable the option Enable WiFi profile sharing with UEFI BIOS, as this option may cause additional issues.

If the issue continues, please let us know your availability on Tuesday, Aug 26th.

I reinstalled the whole server from scratch.

Test-NetConnection shows success to TCP 8080 and TCP 443.

• I changed my TLD to .com
• I got new certificates for .com
• I reinstalled the server with new .com FQDN

Still no CIRA.

We kindly request you to try accessing the AMT Web UI via https://localhost:16993 and log in using your username and password. I have also attached a screenshot of the AMT Web UI WiFi settings, showing how to Enable in S0, Sx/AC. After enabling, we request you to restart the endpoints.

If the issue persists after this, we request you to share the latest ECT logs with us so we can further investigate.

2. Installation:

• Download and unzip the tool.
• Double-click the .msi file and follow the installation prompts.

Wifi, is enabled (it was always enabled like that)

I deployed a new SSID (AlphaTrains-Corporate-Mobile) and for some reason it's connected now to CIRA.

However, only In-Band. Out of band, it's loosing connection. So we are back at this issue now. See next post for EmaConfigTool Logs.

As mentioned, we can see that the In-Band connection is showing as connected, and the logs you shared are reflecting the same. We kindly request you to connect the power cables to the Out-of-Band interface, as it was losing connection earlier.

Once this is done, please share the updated logs with us so we can review them further.

If CIRA over WiFi is connecting with OS is working but not connecting with OS in not working, it is likely either the WiFi profile used in the Intel AMT profile is not configured correctly (e.g. TKIP vs CCMP), or there is 802.1x network authentication on your WiFi network but your WiFi profile on Intel EMA is not configured to use 802.1x.

I can confirm that the WiFi Profile is configured correctly (WPA2 CCMP)

And thats what we are using in the company. We no longer use WPA2-Enterprise 802.1.x.

I tried with UEFI BIOS sharing, and without. No difference..

I wonder if the Dell Laptops even support OOB or if theres some BIOS Setting preventing this?

Hi AlphaSeb,

If you are not using UEFI WiFi, I would recommend turn that option off in Intel AMT profile. Have you try connecting the PC to a mobile phone WiFi hotspot or home WiFi? Does CIRA connects OOB in that scenario?

Hey guys,

it seems I got it working now!! Over my iPhone Hotspot and my private WiFi, I can successfully connect to OOB. 

The only thing, that doesn't work is the remote-mounting / booting of ISO files.  Does this need some extra ports, or does this also work via 443/8080?

Booting from an image also works. I tested with a Windows 11 ISO which seems to be too big.

Created a smaller WinPE, which works just fine. Port 8080 and 443 is all there is to it.


I only noticed one thing: Deleting a WiFi profile in EMA doesn’t delete the WiFi profile on the devices.

I had to manually delete the WiFi profiles via the http://localhost method that were invalid.

But other than that it’s all sorted now. Thanks all.
