Good PC for using KVM

I want to be able to use the KVM feature of AMT, but the machine I have (HP ProDesk G3 600 SFF) doesn't allow KVM (it seems to be disabled). Are there some machines out there that have a proven track record with KVM that I can try out?

Hello, a good reference would be:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/devices-systems.html

Shows both desktops and laptops. Once you decide on category, you can then drill down and refine search criteria to include vPro.

I originally used this link to find a vPro PC:

https://msp.intel.com/find-a-vpro-system https://msp.intel.com/find-a-vpro-system

which shows the HP ProDesk 600 G3 as a vPro system. On the link you gave me, that same system is listed as not being vPro.

I really need to have a very clear choice of a system that is confirmed to be fully functional for AMT functionality, including KVM.

If anyone can confirm that their system *in use* has all the AMT features, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Joel Hall

Hi Joel Hall,

Concerning the HP ProDesk 600 G3 + vPro depends on the CPU that is build-in.

The i5 and i7 options (listed here: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/desktops/product-detail.html?oid=15292277# !tab=specs http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/desktops/product-detail.html?oid=15292277# !tab=specs ) all support vPro.

All other CPU options in that list do not support vPro.

As example, the link you provided also states that the Compute Stick has vPro, but as far as I know this only refers to the Core m5 model. All others do not have vPro.

for the question about all the ATM features, I can not answer. I do not use it.

Hi Joel Hall,

Leon is correct in that many of the manufacturers have different configurations for their models, which CAN include vPro/AMT.

I see that you want to be very clear as to making sure that the system is vPro Platform enabled with AMT technology. The best suggestion would be to narrow down your preference and then contact the OEM of your choice to ensure that the system you want to order has these capabilities.
