Before I commit to a Zed, any news on release date of R400 ?

I much prefer Intel's Realsense SDK but getting news on the R400 is like pulling Hens teeth and I have to deal with the real world. I've been waiting for months for more news, emailing, calling - zilch. Trying here before committing my next product's dev work to Zed.

Anyone know anything - even a ball park release date ?

Thanks !

Whilst I also do not have a firm release date for the R400, multiple sources have stated that it will be the camera in the final release of the Project Alloy mixed-reality headset, replacing the ZR-300 currently used in the headset's reference design. On January 5 2017, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said Intel will "productize" Alloy in Q4 of 2017 via its top OEM partners who will manufacture it.

If Alloy will indeed use R400 in its final version, you would logically expect the development kit to be available in the same time window so that developers who purchase the headset can begin developing applications for it.

Rumor has it that specifications on R400 are slow to appear because Intel is trying to integrate the vision technology of the recently purchased company Movidius into it.

Thank you for contacting us.

We appreciate your interest in the RealSense products. At the time, we don't have an approximate date on when the R400 will be released. When a release date is set, it'll be announced in the Intel website.

Have a nice day.
