What is the idle and load temperature for i5 2500k? My CPU's temperature is 35C in idle and 90C under stress (with Everest program).

The maximum recommended temperature for the Intel Core i5-2500K is 72.6 degrees Celsius; this is CPU temperature, not cores temperature.

If the CPU is running above that temperature, then I would suggest installing the latest BIOS version for your motherboard. Also test the processor on another system to see if it reports the same temperature.

If the same issue continues, then I would suggest contacting your local support center at:

What is the recommended core's temperatures during a stress test?

With the latest version of the bios (ver 0805) the maximum temeratures are:

cores: 71\73 degrees Celsius

MB: 42 degrees Celsius

CPU's package: 71 degrees Celsius.

Are still too high?

I have practically the same setup with the same problem. at least it appears to be a problem. at stress or load my core temps report being over 90 celcius. However, the case its self and the processor plate and liquid cooling block are barely warm to the touch. I think theres something wrong with the sensors as the temps spike in everest almost immediately, and at those temps, the block and motherboard would also be hot. Try using an infrared thermometer and seeing if the processor is really that hot or just being misrepresented.

Mkosama, I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your processor.

I was not able to see the pictures you post on this thread; however I would recommend you to check if there is a new BIOS version available for your motherboard.

Intel® has a tool that will test every single component inside the processor and then will generate a report. I recommend you running the tool named Intel® Processor Diagnostics Tool. It can be downloaded at the following link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19792&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20%2864-bit%29*&DownloadType=Utilities%2C%20Tools%20and%20Examples https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19792&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20%2864-bit%29*&DownloadType=Utilities%2C%20Tools%20and%20Examples

The following link will provide more information about the http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-033342.htm Processors — Processor operation temperature FAQ

Please keep in mind that this CPU supports memory speed up to 1333 MHz. The usage of higher memory speed could increase the temperature.

Thanks for the data.

It looks like the temperature reported on it, are under specs. If you are still having issues you may want to contact our technical support team for any additional troubleshooting, or replacement of the product.
