Hello,

I have been following alot of forums recently regarding people's experience with the i-9 1400 series CPU but i have not seen anyone come across the KS series. I have encountered some issues in the start last year when Windows 10 was supported with this CPU but not Windows 11. That was the first time encountering a new build issue as i looked up the specs. Fortunately Windows 11 finally allowed to install with this CPU on there.

I am using a Water Cooler to keep the temperature in check and i am not an overclocker by any means, i just wanted to make sure the heat would not warp the body of the CPU itself so i opted for the water cooler to help prevent that.

My biggest challenge so far has been the implementation of DX12 into alot of the current games and now old games (that are being updated into the DX12). I am limited with what i can play on my computer and sometimes i might get a game to load but it auto-executes itself to close mid way through loading. Or i would get that infamous error about not enough memory in the CPU itself.

I tried to find a way to push memory onto the GPU but i could not, and even if i did, wouldnt that be amazing to solve alot of problems.

Anyways, i found alot of people using the XTU tool, but it doesnt matter what XTU tool exists because none of them have support for the 14900KS. So i feel like im some of the few who are left in the dust with alot of the frustrations i see people have. Are they making an XTU to support the 14900KS so i can change CPU throttle down to 5.4 so that i can have a chance at enjoying this desktop and the games i would like to play?

As for those wondering why i bought the KS series, worry not. This desktop was not intended for gaming but it kind of fell in this direction and now i have a more effective comp build out for it (which remains at work).

Anyone have a solution for this?

Hi i914900ksGamer,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:

  • You mentioned initial issues with Windows 11. Have you ensured that all drivers, especially chipset and graphics drivers, are up to date? Sometimes, driver updates can resolve compatibility issues.
  • For games that auto-execute to close or show memory errors, have you checked if these games have specific patches or updates for DirectX 12 compatibility? Game developers often release updates to address such issues.
  • You are using a water cooler to manage CPU temperatures. Have you monitored the CPU temperatures under load to ensure they remain within safe limits?
  • Are you currently using Intel Default Settings?
  • What is the exact model of your motherboard and current BIOS version?

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

i copy and pasted from my original article.

All settings are default. I am never one to overclock any computer nor will i attempt to on this one. The games i want to play have no patches for the Intel chipset that i am currently using because its not a mainstream component people or retailers go for when making a computer for gaming.

as for updates. EVERYTHING is updated. I make absolutely sure of that.

For my cooler, i have it max settings and the exhaust fans for the tower computer set to minimum 400 rpm when idle. All the fans work. I believe what is happening is when the game opens up, it wants to use the Intel chip to open the game and not the GPU that i have installed. I also cannot use the XTU tool since your company has not made it compatible with the

i9-14000KS type. So i am stuck in the mud as you can say, regarding this particular matter.

Any suggestions?

Hi i914900ksGamer,

Thank you for your update. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

Graphics Settings Adjustment:

  1. Navigate to the Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings.
  2. Under "Graphics performance preference," select the game you are trying to play and set it to use your dedicated GPU.

BIOS Update:

  • Update the BIOS driver of your system. Please see ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO as it now has the 1801 as the latest version.

https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-z790-dark-hero/helpdesk_bios/

Driver Verification:

  • Double-check that you have the latest drivers installed for your dedicated GPU. Sometimes, reinstalling the drivers can resolve recognition issues.
