I'm affraid the Spartan isn't supported at the moment. You should try a Virtex4 with PowerPC Cores to emulate a NiosII environment....
Euhm.. seriously, if you are indeed using a spartan then you should start looking into the MicroBlaze processor. Altera is not going to support Xilinx FPGA's in the near future.
