Hello all! I've recently ran into an issue with my 6700k... It ran great then all of a sudden I keep getting blue screens, sometimes they loop. All bugchecks are pointing to the cpu. All drivers and BIOS are up to date.
this is only one of the many bugchecks that I get daily.
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Arg2: fffff801968fbe70
Arg3: fffff801968f3fe0
Arg4: fffff801947d69be

Hello Ronin,
Thank you for all the help thus far! much more helpful then what windows support is!
Below I have attached both my System info and the cpu test results, everything passed.
Onto the questions you have asked.
- I have never overclocked anything in my life. Factory settings to me work just great.
- I have not tried another OS as I game, something like Linux doesn't have enough support for something like that
- In hopes to get rid of my Blue Screens I have completely update every single driver I could find.
Thanks again Ronin I much appreciate the help!

Hi Wantless ,
From what microsoft is saying about that code here : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559244(v=vs.85).aspx Bug Check 0x7F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP - Windows 10 hardware dev at Cause it seems that it maybe a hardware problem, especially memory.
I suggest to test with only one memory at a time and see if you get same error.

Then test it with another PSU if you have that possibility,
Also check if there isn't a problem with a windows update, because on the last windows insider version, there were lots of problem reports.

If the problem is not the PSU or memory, I would try a RMA with the CPU.

Hello Wantless,
Thank you for the update.
You may want also to check the RAM speed is under specifications (2133MHz).
If the computer is at the store, you can have the processor tested in a different motherboard, or your motherboard tested with a different processor.
In case the problem goes away by testing a different processor, and if the system ran under specifications since it was built, we can check for any warranty options.
Please let me know how it goes.

Juan Carlos

Hey everyonw!
Just an update one what's going on!
The computer store has gotten back to me. They said it's either the psu or the gpu. The machine crashes and reboots under any graphical load. Which obviously mean the psu is either dropping power to the car and/or the card has gone bad.
I'll update again once I get it completely figured out.
