On the compatibility page for chipset C242 it shows that this chipset is only compatible with processors E-21xx and NOT with processors E-22xx and even looking at the compatibility pages of both processor families everything checks out.
So therefore, chipset C242 should not be compatible with processors E-22xx and more in particular with Intel® Xeon® E-2236.
On many motherboards if not all, from different manufacturers it says that they are using chipset C242 and they claim that it is compatible with both E-21xx and E-22xx processors.
Motherboards such as the P11C-I from ASUS and the X11SCL-IF from Supermicro.
Is it possible that the motherboards have implemented the chipset in a way to make it compatible? If so can chipset C242 be compatible with Intel® Xeon® E-2236?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Hello Bracco,
I understand that you need compatibility information between the Intel® C242 Chipset and the Intel® Xeon® E-2236. I will be more than glad to help you today
As you mentioned, on the list of compatible products for the Intel® C242 Chipset it only shows several Intel® Xeon® E-21xx Processors compatible.
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/147324/intel-c242-chipset.html
Some mother board manufacturers may modify our chipsets so they support E-22xx processors even though they have the Intel® C242 Chipset installed.
Having said this, we do recommend contacting the mother board manufacturer and confirm with them if their system indeed support the Intel® Xeon® E-2236 with an Intel® C242 Chipset
Please let us know in case you need further assistance.
Best regards,
