Cpu temperatures going beyond 95°C

I have recently built a brand new PC with i7 13700k and 4070ti.

I am converting PS5 4k '.webm' format recorded videos into 4k .mp4(HQ 2160p60 4k HEVC Surround) using handbrake application.

While encoding is in process my CPU temperatures are going beyond 95°C, sometimes 99°C but the usage of CPU is nearly 50%.

Is this normal temperature while rendering or doing CPU intensive stuffs?

When doing normal day to day task - CPU temperatures are nearly 45°C

Other components

AIO(liquid cooler) - DEEPCOOL LS 720 SE WH Motherboard - MSI mag B760m mortar WIFI Ram - 32gb

Hello sagardeep77,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you.

Normally, the processor reaches this temperature, especially if you are using programs with CPU-intensive workloads. The T-junction of the Intel Core i7-13700K processor is 100°C. Any temperature results lower or equal to that value are considered expected for this unit.

  • Verify proper installation of the processor thermal solution. Ensure all anchors are uniformly fastened. Make sure the thermal solution is not bumping into other components on the motherboard.
  • To rule out a possible hardware issue with the processor itself. Install and run the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool. It does an overall test on the unit, and if it passes the test, it means it is working properly.
  • Run the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. It will display the processor's statistics, and you can check any possible hardware problem with the Intel processor.
  • Just in case, here you have the Overheating Symptoms and Troubleshooting for Intel Boxed Processors for you to confirm if the processor is getting overheated and possibly suggestions to try if necessary.
  • It may be helpful to reach out to the motherboard manufacturer to inquire about any BIOS options that could potentially lower the temperature.

Additionally, here you will see the "Overheating Symptoms and Troubleshooting for Intel Boxed Processors" for further details on this subject.

Hello Jocelyn ,
I am running i7 13700K with RTX 4060, I have a similar issue and I Installed both the suggested tool , The processor diagnostic tool return PASS and while monitoring the Intel extreme tuning utility , I got 100 Degree package temperature while running games but the utilisation is around only 10%, and normally it stays around 50 degree around 1-2 % utilisation .
