Hey there. I have Dell Inspiron N5010 notebook with core i3 380M processor and integrated Intel HD GPU. The CPU has become quite slow. But it is not possible for me to go for a new laptop (financial issues). So i have decided to replace the CPU with core i7 640M. I read somewhere that integrated GPUs have some sort of connections with the CPU. So i want answers of a few questions regarding this situation:
- Can i replace the core i3 380M with i7 640M?
- Will it worth it in improving the performance?
- If i upgrade it to i7, will the GPU performance and memory be affected? (like.. will it increase or completely change due to new CPU)
In short, i want to know the pros and cons. My laptop details are are also given in attachments.
Thanks....

You need to consult with dell. Ask them what processors are supported by their bios for your laptop.
Then, you can select from those processors.
In my opinion, you will not see a significant performance increase. You would do better by getting an sata ssd and cloning your sata hdd to the ssd, then removing the hdd. This is not a difficult task, but you may want to use a local repair shop to do it.

[Maybe Windows 12 will be better]
