Hello:
I have an i9 9900k and it appears to be throwing out the following using intel's software but also had similar errors in Prime95 and OCCT:
--- IPDT64 - Revision: 4.1.5.37
--- IPDT64 - Start Time: 5/22/2022 12:28:06 PM
----------------------------------------------
-- Testing
----------------------------------------------
CPU 1 - Genuine Intel - Pass.
CPU 1 - BrandString - Pass.
CPU 1 - Cache - Pass.
CPU 1 - MMXSSE - Pass.
CPU 1 - IMC - Pass.
CPU 1 - Prime Number - Fail.
IPDT64 Failed
--- IPDT64 - Revision: 4.1.5.37
--- IPDT64 - End Time: 5/22/2022 12:28:09 PM
----------------------------------------------
FAIL
So, my questions are if you can help me troubleshoot:
1. Can this be a result of the MotherBoard?
2. Can this be a result from the RAM?
3. Short of buying a new processor; is there anything one can do?
- Like anyway to disable a feature until I can afford a new PROC?
Note:
No overclocking at all. Not even XMP 1 or 2. Every failsafe set.
Temperatures are fine.
Any direction would be helpful.
Thanks,
T

Hello TIMORLANG,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel® Core™ i9-9900K Processor.
In order to better assist you, please provide the following:
1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.
- Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html
- Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View".
- To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
2. Provide the Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers:
3. When did the issue start?
4. Did you notice the issue after a system update or after a hardware/software change?
Regards,
Deivid A.

Hello TIMORLANG,
Thanks for the reports provided. Before we continue further, I would like to confirm the following:
1. Provide the full report from the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool:
2. Have you noticed any issues with games or apps? If so, which games/apps?
3. When did the issue start?
4. Did you notice the issue after a system update or after a hardware/software change?
5. Have you noticed any blink code from the motherboard?
Regards,
Deivid A.

1. Full Report Attached
2. Yes, Player Unknown Battle Ground (aka PUBG), Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), and No Man's Sky (NMS) all crash randomly.
3. Not really sure.
4. No blink codes from the motherboard; however, sometimes it does not start immediately when I press the power button; and I have to retry.
- I have purchased (in the past 24hours) a new CPU and Motherboard. However, I would still very much like to solve this as I will be using the current equipment i9900 in another build.
- I update and install software all the time. So, I cannot really give you a definitive response about software updates and hardware changes.
Cheers,
T

Hello TIMORLANG,
Thanks for your patience. I am still investigating this issue, in order to continue further I would appreciate it if you can confirm the following:
1. Try with a minimal configuration (CPU, 1 stick of RAM, no video card). let me know if the games still crashing.
2. We do not support/validate 3rd party tools, please install the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) and take a picture of the tool.
- Tool: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html
3. Have you tried with different components on your current motherboard? (CPU, RAM)
4. Have you experienced freezing or crashes in other games and apps besides the ones that you mentioned?

Deivid A.

ok, so, in the process of performing your request. I pulled the machine out and placed it sideways and opened the side panel to access the components. Before I removed anything as you requested; I attached all the same items and ran the tests one more time as a final baseline.
And completely to my surprise. There are no errors.
I have not removed anything at all.
This issue has existed for months now.
Placing the machine on its side and opening the panel FIXED it?
So, I work in IT and I cannot accept this as a solution.
Can you or your team think of any reason that this would occur?
I mean maybe the move pushed RAM back into space or opened side helped with more ventilation.
But I will run some more tests this evening and update you.
Thanks.

Hello TIMORLANG,
I am glad to know that you were able to fix the issue, even though it was an unconventional fix. In this case, I do not have a proper answer to what may fix the issue, however, it looks like it could be related to a component (motherboard, cooling solution, RAM, Video card) that was not attached properly to the port it is spouse to be connected.
Try to check that all the components are properly installed and attached. I will not be able to replicate the resolution since it is random and I may not have a proper answer for you.
Since this was fixed I will proceed to close this thread, if you need further assistance just let me know.
Best regards,
Deivid A.

Hello TIMORLANG,
Before we finish, I would like to know if the issue continues or if was completely solved.
Also, the fix may be related to the fact that taking the PC out of the case could have helped the flow of the energy as sometimes when the cables are all together for quite a time could cause interruptions in the energy flow; however, is hard to tell where exactly the issue was coming from.
Best regards,
Deivid A.

No thank you. The issue seemed to resolve itself. Not sure if it was an air flow issue or maybe dried paste. I reset the CPU and applied new paste and everything appears to be working fine now.
It is odd; as I monitor my temperatures closely; and I had not noticed any issues at all using HWINFO
Thanks,
Tamer
