I tried to create an account several times in the past month but I always get this message when submitting the registration form: 

 

"error! sorry. An error occurred when creating your account. Please try again. "

I contacted Altera support through Email, and they identified the problem. 

 

The problem was a dot "." in my name, I removed the dot and the registration worked. 

 

My tip is to avoid special characters in the registration fields and use only alpha-numeric characters.
