Hi every one, I just got my first board, the DE0.(Not the NANO). I have been using the DE2 in my labs in the university and wanted some practice at home. My interest is using Assembly and C but i just realized that the Boards at the school were pre-configured with a .SOF file that allowed programming. I did some research and found out that i might have to create a .SOF file my self which allows the CPU to be usable for programming. My request and question here is, are there any pre-made .SOF files that will work on my board which would allow me to use AlteraMonitor Program like i do in my lab? I would like to write simple programs in Assembly not VHDL.
I'm really new to this world of FPGA's, Kindly help me out here! Thanks, Zik:cry:Link Copied

there should be a factory default load that would have a NIOS running with a sample C program flashing to LEDs and doing something with the 7segs. You usually control which program to load via some dip switch somewhere. Have a look through the DE0 manual
PS. I have no experience with the DE0 or DE2, but this has been the case on other altera dev boards Ive worked with.- Mark as New

here you are.
http://www.terasic.com.tw/cgi-bin/page/archive.pl?language=english&categoryno=165&no=364&partno=4×tamp=1423816598 you can download its CD-ROM resource. you can get .sof file from DE0_CD-ROM_v.1.1/Demonstrations/DE0_NIOS_SDCARD/DE0_TOP.sof also you can get .sopcinfo file form DE0_CD-ROM_v.1.1/Demonstrations/DE0_SOPC.sopcinfo you can even rebuild sof file by compiling the project.- Mark as New

I am asking for a NIOS II .SOF for a basic computer. I asked the professor as well for my labs and he said to look for a NIOS II Basic Computer .SOF which should allow me to use this cyclon III as a normal cpu for programming e.t.c. Where may i acquire the NIOS II .SOF for this board ? Thanks.

where I suggested was just Terasic Basic projects.
if your lab has its own CPU of NiosII, the source and .sof must be somewhere in your lab. if professor means that you have to find NiosII basic foundation, it must be the CD-rom. the archive has NiosII, and you can make C-program on the board. if I missed something, I can not tell.... sorry.
