MAX10 FPGA pof-file programming fails

Hi all, I build a custom 10M02SCM153 board, when I attempt to download the .pof file, I got "Error (209012): Operation failed" at 4%. However, I can .sof can be loaded. Could anyone provide some hints to debug it?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

did you try with programmer option "Halt on-chip configuration controller"?
It may be also the case that your board hardware is trying to reconfigure the FPGA.

Just a heads-up, and this may have nothing to do with your problem, but the MAX10 has a bug when programming .pof.  All the pins are supposed to be floating during configuration, but some get configured as outputs and may contend with chips on the board that are trying to drive those pins.  This can cause high current and weird problems.  There is a way to get around it by selecting a particular programming option, but I forget what that is at the moment.
